expand diameter to meet the drawing requirements. Excessive wear can greatly reduce the mould repair times or even be eliminated to stop an increase in the drawing cost. The company has the latest measurement system imported from KJM GmbH, Germany, to maintain the accuracy of the dies. Shree Mahalaxmi Die Industries – India Website : www.mahalaxmidie.in Sikora will present a broad portfolio of innovative measuring, control, inspec- tion, sorting and analysis technologies. These contribute to product quality, process optimisation and cost saving in the wire and cable, optical fibre and plastics industries. The newly launched X-Ray 8000 Advanced will be a highlight at the stand. With the X-ray based system, the company introduces high speed technology (HST) that is tailored to the demands of MV, HV and EHV cable production. It represents an advanced alternative to the established X-Ray 8000 NXT. The system is equipped with 16 measuring sensors, and measures the diameter, wall thickness and eccentricity of cables in CV lines up to a factor of ten faster than the X-Ray 8000 NXT, and thus, is predestined for an even more efficient control and information transparency in terms of Industry 4.0. Other highlights are devices of the Laser Series 2000 and Laser Series 6000 that are components for a diameter measurement on a sophisti- cated level. The classic and high-end devices are used in extrusion lines or rewinding applications for wire drawing. They stand out by their high precision and continuous functionality without calibration or maintenance times. Due to up to 5,000 measurements per second/per axis, the Laser Series 6000 impresses with the highest single value precision for an efficient line control. The integrated lump detector function ensures a detection of irregularities on the product surface of transparent and non-transparent materials. In addition to standard interfaces, the device series provides OPC UA. With the Centerview 8000, Sikora presents a measuring system for the non-contact, online eight-point- eccentricity, four-axis-diameter and eight-point-ovality measurement of coax cables, LAN cables as well as automotive and installation cables to Sikora Stand: H1I73

the global public. Technical highlights of the Centerview 8000 are the graphic visualisation of measuring values as a scatter plot that shows the distribution of short-term variations as well as the automatic positioning of the gauge head to the cable position for highest reliability. A further feature is the measurement of micro-coax cables in a diameter range from 0.1 to 10mm.

Sket Verseilmaschinenbau Stand: H1J79

In June 2018, Sket Verseilmaschinenbau GmbH handed over two machines to Hengtong Submarine Power Cable Co Ltd, based in Changshu, China. After the successful installation and commissioning of a vertical stranding line and an armouring line, the final acceptance was signed by manager Qian Zhikang and production manager Pan Wenlin after qualified production of 27km high voltage offshore power cable (220kV, 3x500mm², XLPE insulated). The complete project was realised in less than two years with mutual efforts and cooperation from Hengtong and Sket staff. Sket’s technology for units like bearing concept turntable, taping units, bitumen units, etc, has been proven by this extra-long cable manufacturing. Sket is also the supplier of the conductor making rigid stranding machines, as the 500mm² copper conductor needed to be produced in extraordinary length. As Hengtong Submarine Power Cable Co Ltd is China’s first cable manufacturer with Sket offshore machinery, this project can be seen as a milestone of Sket’s activities in Asia. The production of high voltage offshore power cable is one of the key markets for cable manufacturers in China and is supported by continuous growing demand for this technology.

By means of a drawing tower model, the company introduces its broad portfolio of measuring systems for quality control of optical fibres at different positions. There will be systems presented for the measure- ment of the diameter and the position of the naked and coated fibre as well as for the determination of the tension and detection of airlines. Furthermore, gauge heads are displayed for the measurement of the fibre temperature at the hot position of the drawing process, to determine the fibre temperature for the control of the furnace, and at the cold end, to exactly dose the helium used for the cooling, and therefore, to save costs. In addition, a gauge head for the determination of the concentricity of the coating as well as for the detection of lumps on the surface of the coated fibre is exhibited. A further attraction is the Purity Scanner for online inspection and sorting of plastic pellets that are used for the insulation of medium, high and extra-high voltage cables as well as onshore and offshore cables. The unique combination of an X-ray camera with an optical camera system is currently the only technology that reliably detects contamination on the surface as well as inside plastic pellets. Contaminated pellets are sorted out automatically. Sikora – Germany Website : www.sikora.net ❍ The Centerview 8000 from Sikora

For Hengtong Submarine Power Cable Co Ltd this is the first time it has produced such a long offshore power cable without any joints, which is a big success for all parties in the project.
