Exhibitors at wire 2024
With more than 70 years of experience in the wire and cable industry, Maschinenfabrik Niehoff develops and manufactures machinery required for the production of non-ferrous wires and their downstream processing into automotive, power, data and special cables – with the exception of extruders. Niehoff is member of the Blue Competence sustainability initiative of the German Engineering Federation VDMA, and cooperates with the EcoVadis international platform for sustainability ratings.
the intrinsic differences of the chemical compound and its various applications, depending on type. In the wire drawing industry, it is used as a component of coatings to reduce wear and extend the life of parts owing to its exceptional resistance. However, not all coatings are the same – it is necessary for industry pro- fessionals to discern between the various functionalities of available types to prevent performance below expectations. For example, cold-sprayed carbide is sometimes described as having high hardness values due to a higher percentage of tungsten carbide. Drawing conclusions solely based on such data may result in oversimplified analysis; hardness alone does not automatically guarantee greater dura- bility. In some cases, excessive hardness could even cause undesirable effects on the drawn product. There are two main varieties of tungsten carbide-based coatings: cold-sprayed, which is widely used, and hot “fused”, available only from a limited number of suppliers. These coatings differ sig- nificantly in their characteristics and applications. Paganoni offers both solutions: Wolside as the hot-fused carbide and Coldside as the cold-sprayed carbide. Wolside is suitable for applications such as wet wire drawing. It is used worldwide for processing copper and aluminium, ensuring performance without the risk of coating lifting.
The company’s automatic and semi automatic horizontal grinding machines are equipped with ø80, ø100, ø125 or ø160 chucks, depending on the version, and are dedicated to the machining of tungsten carbide dies and tools starting from ø 0.8mm. Its manual polishing lathes are designed for the polishing of various types of tools and materials. They are equipped with safety devices, electronic speed variators and brakes. Depending on the model, various options are available, such as chucks from ø80 to ø250, collet chucks, magnetic plates and workbenches. Mouton Rivom manufactures shaving heads for various ferrous and non ferrous wire and cable manufacturers. Depending on the material, the shaving heads are efficient on wires from ø1 to 18mm. The shaving process improves the surface finish, removes impurities and corrosion, and is environmentally friendly as it prevents the use of chemicals and makes it possible to recycle the chips generated. All of the company’s machines comply with the requirements of EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, and are exported worldwide. Mouton Rivom SAS www.moutonrivom.com 10 D22 Maschinenfabrik Niehoff will present the next-generation rod breakdown (RBD) line – type MSM 88 – R 502.H for copper and aluminium wires. The line is characterised by high performance combined with reduced energy consumption and CO 2 emissions. There will be live demonstrations of a BMV 16 braiding machine, a new automatic rewinder for braiding bobbins (type SMB), and an SV 403 D type double spooler of the NPS (Niehoff Package System) cable handling system, which enables production speeds of up to 2,400m/min. Niehoff’s after-sales service will present its range of spare parts with the Niehoff Original+ label, contributing to further increase the efficiency of the company’s systems in the long term. Other service offers include the modernisation of earlier Niehoff machines and machine relocations. Visitors to the stand will be able to learn how to benefit from the new myNiehoff digital service platform. Maschinenfabrik Niehoff GmbH & Co KG
