Formtek adds new CNC machine

Tube cutting shear blades for high strength materials

New-Form Tools, Canada, produces speciality blades for shearing stainless steels and high strength materials with higher than average yield and tensile strengths.

Formtek, USA, has taken delivery of a new five-axis, dual chuck, multi-tasking machining centre for its Cleveland location. The new equipment, along with the company’s existing CNC machinery and other new machines currently on order, will enable the company to produce roll tooling using a new method. This new method will speed production by eliminating many of the time consuming steps currently involved in tooling production, and will also increase the quality of the tooling produced. Formtek provides tooling and equipment to the rollforming industry, and its brand names include Yoder, B&K, Dahlstrom, Tishken, and Lockformer.

The company’s blades are designed to

provide excellent wear results, withstanding the greater impact of high strength steels. The blades can be used for shearing large diameter tubes with heavier walls. The company also offers wear-resistant titanium black coating for the tube shear blade market.

› The quick change system from New-Form Tools can increase a mill’s uptime

New-Form can also supply a new, patented quick change blade system, that can increase mill uptimes by as much as one to two hours per day. The system can include quick change blades, jaws/dies and crosscut tools.
