Saint-Gobain PAM UK has introduced a dedicated range of Factory Mutual- certified ductile iron pipes, fittings and valves for underground fire main applications. The Process range is to be distributed by Ham Baker Pipelines, a supplier to the water industry and a fire, securities and mechanical specialist. Factory Mutual (FM) approval has been given to the new Process range by the independent testing arm of international insurance carrier FM Global. Carrying the FM logo, products from the Process range are proven to conform to the highest standards for safety and property loss prevention. Insurance-dependent FM-approved products assist in lowering insurance premiums, thanks to these superior standards. All products in the Process range are FM certified with a pressure rating of 15 to 30 bar. They therefore offer a

high level of performance, reliability and durability, and provide engineers, industrial contractors and their fire- fighting departments with substantial safety margins. They also ensure better adaptation to the potential evolution of industrial site fire systems. Intended mainly for below-ground applications, Process pipes are painted black for easy identification, and so as not to confuse them with potable or sewer water pipes. Commenting on the new Process range, Ham Baker Pipelines general manager Darren Wood said, “The Process range is the end result of market feedback, as clients benefit from the safety our certified system provides through high

Infrared fusion for peace of mind in jointing The IR-110 A is a new generation of infrared fusion machines made by GF Piping Systems. Automation, intuitive handling and system security enable efficiency for installers and operators. GF Piping Systems has been a pioneer in IR technology since 1992, and works with customers to focus on their needs. Adjustable facing values on both sides allow maximum flexibility in installation and handling. The IR-110 A supports interactive handling with a graphical user interface. The 12.1" touchscreen display offers multilingual instructions as well as video guidance for best welding results. The integrated process and quality control add to the installer’s peace of mind. During the fusion process, jointing distance and jointing pressure are always controlled and monitored.

The heating and cooling process are optimised according to the ambient temperature, while the components are measured by an IR temperature sensor. An integrated video camera documents handling and preparation, and fusion joint data is easily and safely obtainable. The clean-room-designed IR-110 A fusion machine comes in a transport box including a working table equipped with all the necessary equipment in a high purity tray. The result is the IR-110 A for the diameter range d20 to d110mm, for materials PVDF, PP, PP-n and PE100. The fully automated IR-110 A minimises operator errors and ensures the quality of the weld. The jointing process with autonomously moving clamping slides, and the facing and heating are all fully automated. The user-friendly design of the IR-110 A is suitable for complex installations. The facer and heater do not interfere with the components. The clamping slides and clamping units are designed for flange connections.
