specially designed wire stranding heads prepared for either round or trapezoidal wire sections, substantial compaction systems and devices for applying water blocking by yarns and powder. New technical solutions incorporated into FLYMCA equipment in recent years have led to reduced downtime and changeover periods, as well as decreased reliance on operator intervention to improve safety and human failures/accidents. These changes include the integration of accumulators for continuous operation, loaders as automatic systems, and automated mechanisms for cutting and taping cable tails. FLYMCA has focused its attention towards these specialised machines, while also maintaining production of traditional equipment for aerial cables, railway, communication and other conventional markets, such as steel wire ropes. The company is said to be optimistic about future market prospects, and is committed to expanding both its facili ties and personnel to support growth. FLYMCA is celebrating its 25 th anniversary this year. After a first celebration at wire Düsseldorf in Germany, the company was also present at the Uncasville fair, Connecticut, USA, where it introduced Niehoff Endex North America Inc as its new representative for the North American market. FLYMCA SL www.flymca.com Froma Srl, an expert in machinery to bend and weld metallic wire, was founded in 1967 by Riccardo Frigerio, and since 2015 has been led by his daughter, Gaia Frigerio. The company produces fully customised machines, in automatic or semi automatic versions, based on customers’ final product drawings and daily/yearly production targets. Based in Valmadrera, Lecco, in the North of Italy, Froma operates mainly in the markets of Europe, Turkey, China and the USA. The automation of Froma machines is based on a Siemens system, designed to provide high flexibility and reduced times in model changeover. Froma Srl Stand: E1 A23

process, reducing set-up times and operator errors. Precise adjustments allow for efficient and economical use of lead, resulting in material savings in the cable sheath layers. The centring device is available as an option for new machines, or can be retrofitted to existing extruders. Further innovations, such as a device for cutting start-up scrap, will also be presented digitally. Energy-efficient melting pots are available for capacities of 10, 18, 35 and 60 tonnes, depending on the production demands. Also available from HFSAB are the CRRS and SM-H cable stripping machines, both of which can remove individual layers without causing any damage to the subsequent layer below, allowing the outer jacket, lead sheath or triple-layer XLPE to be reapplied and the cable to be repaired. The CRRS is used for the removal of outer sheathing materials such as HDPE with or without a bonded thin aluminium metallic sheath, PE, PVC or lead. H Folke Sandelin AB www.hfsab.com

The technical solutions are determined by production needs, translated into a more or less active operator role in the process – more manual or completely automated operations. A network of external collaborators and mostly local suppliers supports Froma in meeting complex market demands. All Froma machines are tested by specialised staff, to ensure performance and reliability. Froma Srl www.froma.it

H Folke Sandelin AB (HFSAB) Stand: E1 B51

H Folke Sandelin (HFSAB), a specialist in lead extruders and cable stripping and repair machines, is an independent company of the Niehoff Group and will be exhibiting at the Niehoff stand in the German Pavilion.

Extruder from HFSAB, a Niehoff company

Personnel will be available to discuss the latest addition to the range of lead extruders, the introduction of the high output Type 5 lead extruder, and new technology for the main motor and gear box, as well as a new ergonomic design. Lead extruders for cable sheathing require precise adjustment to ensure that the lead sheath is applied concentrically around the cable with a constant, close-tolerance thickness. HFSAB has developed a semi-automatic die-centring device for the die block of its lead extruders. This device simplifies the time-consuming die adjustment
