George Evans Corporation (GEC) of Moline, Illinois, a manufacturer of custom steel toroidal reels for the wire and cable industry, has acquired Matcon Manufacturing, based in Cordova, Illinois. Matcon designs, prototypes and manufactures all types of returnable packaging solutions. Matcon will become a division of GEC, while retaining its operations in Cordova. Both companies supply custom steel fabrications to major original equipment
manufacturers such as John Deere, Case New Holland, Freightliner, Vermeer, Yetter and Caterpillar. The companies’ combined annual revenue is expected to be over $20 million with 110 employees.
