The system detects longitudinal flaws as small as 0.1mm deep on hot rolled bars and rods, and provides full quadrature detection to preserve phase selectability, and choice of all phase and chord gates, similar to a conventional eddy current tester. A new probe screen includes sensitivity and phase adjustment for each individual channel. Two surface ride probe arrays, consisting of eight elements, each cover 160mm per rotation. The system operates up to 900rpm, depending on product diameter, and throughput speed of 2.4m per minute (480rpm) with larger diameters requiring slower rpm. MAC test instruments and systems are supplied and serviced throughout the world by experienced field engineers and representatives.
