“We are very proud to join forces with Moorecraft, a company with 51 years’ experience manufacturing wooden reels in the USA. Certainly the JV will add value to our global customer base, while developing customers located in the USA,” said Gino Mazzoccato, president of Madem. Madem Group is a nailed wooden reels producer. It produces more than 400 container loads of knock-down reels every month, to supply 120 cable factories in 40 countries.

The spools are changed fully automatically with servo-drive motor operated toolings. To ensure a smooth and problem-free wire laying process, the number of sensors has been reduced while maintaining the same high-quality output. The new FA-PLW offers high flexibility as the servo-motor types can be customised, depending on each customer’s preferred brand and needs. As with all Lämneå Bruk machines, the new FA-PLW is CE marked, and on-going risk analysis and constant testing ensure compliance with the latest European safety standards. The Lämneå Bruk team will also detail another machine. Launched in 2017, the No Twist Coiler for spring wire sets a new standard for bedding and seating wire coiling. Apart from presenting its new development, the Lämneå Bruk team will provide information about an extensive machine portfolio, ranging from welding to low- and high-carbon wire. In addition to its drawing lines, the company offers a wide range of spooling, rod preparation, coilers, take-ups, payoffs and pointing machines for different wire types. The changing needs of the industry demand high flexibility and customisation from manufacturers. Lämneå Bruk has control over the entire supply chain – from first draft to finished machine, and all after-sales services. Over 100 years in the wire industry equips Lämneå Bruk with the knowledge to design innovative and enduring machines for its Brazil-based Madem Reels Group, a manufacturer of wooden reels for the wire and cable industry, has embarked on a joint venture with USA-based Moorecraft Reels, Inc. The venture, Madem-Moorecraft Reels USA, will provide wooden cable reels throughout North America. Madem Reels will provide its proprietary manufacturing technology, including CNC and ink jet machinery, to the venture. Moorecraft will provide general management, sales, customer support, assembly warehouse and logistics development. Madem brings a global presence with manufacturing plants in Brazil, Spain and Bahrain. Moorecraft Reels will bring its market experience and business expertise to expand the joint venture in North America. clients all over the world. íí wires from, for example, shelving systems. The shaft take-ups are designed to be moved by simple handling. Depending on the application these shaft-driven take-ups can wind the product onto spools of up to 500mm diameter or onto a reel. Especially suitable for thicker products, the reel offers the advantage of winding onto a collapsing core and, after the winding process, removing it without difficulty. There is also a choice between manual or driven installation. The standard design includes a manual laying unit, which can be moved by hand via two roller guides. The design of the roller guide provides various components such as product guides and a length measurement. Depending on the application, other designs can be provided. For winding smaller diameter products in longer lengths the laying unit can also be equipped with a drive, making it possible to set an automatic shutdown at defined lengths. The drive may be decoupled mechanically so the laying process can be done by hand. The FA-PLW will run live, several times every day of the show. This new machine combines speed, precision and user- friendliness. ❍ The fully automatic precision layer winder (FA-PLW) from Lämneå Bruk Lämneå Bruk Stand: 09A06

Moorecraft Reels, founded in 1966, manufactures and distributes nailed wooden reels for the wire and cable industry in the mid-Atlantic region of the United States. Madem SA – Brazil Website : www.mademreels.com Maillefer Stand: 10C22 At wire 2018, Maillefer will take the next step in the digitalisation of manufacturing, introducing the Smart Factory and virtual reality experience for real-time optimisation of production. Maillefer will highlight over 20 products at the show, while showcasing its expertise in conjunction with Davis-Standard. Products will include: • Maillefer Smart Factory, combining a physical factory model with additional instrumentation and online diagnostics, enabling the prediction of abnormal process behaviours before critical quality issues take place. Using the virtual reality application, a visitor can simulate different production para- meters and set-ups applicable in Maillefer factories. • Smart Dosing, a consultation product that equips line operators with the peroxide and antioxidant self-dosing information needed to implement Smart Dosing to CV lines. • A new compression technology for fibre optic cable producers that allows modelling of the product with neural networks, and thus improves fibre length control. ❍ The Madem/Moorecraft Reels site
