wire 2018 (up to 40 per cent less energy) and higher TPM, with improved wire quality and a further reduction in bow breakage and wire scrap. Keir Manufacturing Inc – USA Website : www.keirmfg.com Kurre Spezialmaschinenbau GmbH Stand: 10B22 Kurre has been developing machines and production lines for the wire and cable industry for 35 years. With increasing requirements for equipment within a smaller production space, Kurre has developed a compact rewinding line for product inspection. The flexible design of the measuring instruments range combined with a compact design offer a range of possibilities for test processes. To provide a smaller footprint, measuring devices are placed on the housing between the winding stations. The machine consists of a single housing and can be transported as a single unit. The rewinding line can operate spools up to 630mm diameter of a maximum 200kg in weight. For low product stress during testing processes, and to facilitate a wide range of products such as flat or delicate products for the medical sector, winding positions are transverse. The system has a tension range of 5-50N, achievable by a traverse laying system that generates a gentle, low-friction product treatment. An automatic failure repositioning system will place a detected failed product in a defined position for the operator to verify and evaluate the failure. To produce spools with a highly precise laying quality the machine is equipped with a laying computer that allows automatic spool edge correction, compensating for ‘mountains and valleys’ at the spool sides, and also offering the possibility of conical coils. The rewinding lines can be custom equipped with testing equipment and designed in different sizes to suit the required spool size range. The Kurre product range includes flange driven systems, characterised by a compact design and simple spool handling for spools from 250 to 1,250mm with a maximum weight of 1,000kg. The spools are driven at the outer flange over a roller, operating at speeds up to 60m per minute. The system has a dancer control for precise and constant tension. Beside the individual payoff and take-up, the flange drive systems are available as combined systems. In the combined systems the payoff, take-up and control

cabinet are integrated into a single frame. Particularly for a braiding process, the combined systems make a compact and efficient solution. Flange driven systems can be applied in other areas such as stranding and heat treatment processes as well as in the galvanising process. Flange driven systems can be equipped with various options including a bus system, an electrically driven laying unit, or an EP-converter to enable the integration of

a braiding machine with the system. The EP-converter for an electro-pneumatic tension adjustment and the electrically driven laying unit on the take-up provides the possibility of setpoint via the bus system by an external control system. This integration capability ensures a lean data structure and a process-safe operation. New to the Kurre product portfolio are simple shaft-driven take-ups for the logistics industry to remove cables and
