The Kamax presses have been further developed by Krenn to increase occupational safety and user-friendliness. The new electrical control optimises the adjustment and maintenance. Optionally, the presses are delivered with sound insulation. This is especially recommended when testing wires with high tensile strength. Krenn GmbH & Co KG – Gemany Website : www.krenn.de Swedish company Lämneå Bruk combines a long history in the wire industry with a modern, up-to-date and innovative approach. The company is known for its drawing machine lines but also offers a wide range of spooling, rod preparation, coilers, take-ups, pay-offs and pointing machines for different wire types such as low to high carbon, stainless steel, welding and spring wire. The latest innovations such as the No Twist Coiler (NTC) for spring wire and the second generation of the fully automatic precision layer winder were presented at this year’s wire Düsseldorf and sparked the interest of many international customers. Being in the wire industry for more than 100 years equips Lämneå Bruk with specialised industry knowledge. As well as finding innovative solutions for the changing demands of its worldwide customers, the company constantly strives to improve its machines and set new standards in the rapidly evolving wire industry. Krenn offers a versatile steel cutting programme for the international market. The company’s history began in 1947 when Albert Krenn senior founded the factory where he and his wife Zenta made technical springs by hand. The manufacture of springs was quickly expanded and the company invested in modern production equipment. To cut the hard spring steel, Mr Krenn looked for the right tool, and eventually developed the patented Krenn steel cutter with three- edged reversible blade. The product range of the mid-sized, family-owned operation, located in Bavaria, Germany, includes tools for cutting steel wire, steel rod, reinforcement steel mesh, wire rope, steel strapping, chains and cables. Different types of cutters are available: manual, hydraulic, electro-hydraulic, pneu- matic or battery-operated. The company provides products to the steel industry, wire production and processing industries, the pre-cast concrete sector, and to retailers of construction equipment and tools. When it took over the steel cutter and testing presses division of Kamax Tools & Equipment company, Krenn supplemented its product range with hydraulic devices for cutting and straightening steel as well as hydraulic upsetting presses for material testing. The hydraulic Kamax steel cutters are suitable for cutting steel wire and bars with a maximum diameter of 50mm. Kamax hydraulic presses with a pressing force of 500 kN to 5,000 kN are suited to compression testing of wire samples. They are also available as a double press with integrated cutting device. Using the shearing device, the test piece for the upset test can be cut exactly to the desired length. The sample is ejected burr-free and with even shear surfaces. ❍ The Kamax hydraulic Material Testing Press Z160/Z315

Dr Mirko Cormann, the new R&D manager of laser and ultrasonic manufacturer Leyer & Kiwus, Germany, will present the newest LaserAutomat, a fully advanced automatic laser drilling machine for diamond wire drawing dies in the diameter range from 0.005 to 2mm.

The diamond dies’ surfaces are so smooth that ultrasonic polishing can be skipped or minimised drastically. The company will also show the compact DieDiaMeter, a wire-drawing die fast- measuring system. One measurement needs only three seconds, with accuracy better than one micron. ❍ The compact DieDiaMeter, a wire- drawing die fast-measuring system

Lukas Anlagenbau GmbH, a family-owned manufacturer from Bavaria, Germany, is producing customer-specific equipment for the wire and cable industry. The focus of the products is on complete taping lines with taping materials like PTFE, Kapton, Mica, paper or metal. The taping lines are also produced for special cables for medical, aircraft or power applications. The product range covers single components like pay-offs, capstans, caterpillars, sintering ovens and take-ups, up to complete rewinding lines and fine wire drawing lines for non-ferrous materials. With a new drive concept, Lukas ensures a further improvement of quality in the taping technology. Undesirable effects may occasionally occur in taping units due to frictional wear on moving parts of the

All machines are designed and manufactured on-site allowing for the highest flexibility and options to adapt each machine according to customers’ needs. Lämneå Bruk takes pride in its customer service and support during every phase of the production cycle, as well as after-sales. A thorough three-step risk analysis and conformity according to ISO standards ensures highest European safety standards of all machines. ❍ An innovative approach from Lämneå Bruk
