IWCS seeks technical papers for annual forum IWCS is calling on industry professionals and academic researchers to submit a brief (300–500 word) abstract summaris- ing research or emerging technologies affecting the global cable and connect- ivity industry. Submitted entries will be reviewed by the IWCS 2025 technical symposium committee, and the authors of accepted abstracts will gain international exposure for their work. and broadband connectivity. A complete list of suggested topics is available on the IWCS website, and additional topics are also welcome. IWCS accepts submissions from all industry professionals, with no limitation of job title or level of experience. Examples of past authors’ roles include engineering, research and development, product management and academia, in a variety of market and industry segments relevant to cable products,
materials, processes and applications. A referral programme is available for those who wish to refer their colleagues to submit a paper. The person who refers the most authors of accepted technical papers will receive complimentary full access registration to the 2025 Cable & Connectivity Industry Forum. Technical papers will be presented dur- ing the technical symposium component of the 2025 IWCS Cable & Connectivity Industry Forum, scheduled to take place from 27 to 30 October at the David L Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. Partici- pants will have the option to present their technical paper as a presentation or as a poster display during the forum. Papers will be published in the IWCS research archives and select papers may be featured in relevant industry magazines, including EuroWire and Wire & Cable ASIA , giving participants additional recognition for their work and their company. Presenters also have the opportunity to receive awards for their research and presentation. The IWCS technical symposium commit- tee recently announced two awards for papers presented during last year’s forum. The Kitts-Kingsley Award for Best Presentation went to Bernard Lee of Senko Advanced Components, for “Connectivity Advancement Trends for Quantum Technology & Its Applications”. Alison Shapiro, University of Delaware, won the Award for Outstanding Poster Paper, for “Crosslinked Polyolefins: Opportunities for Fostering Circularity Throughout the Materials Lifecycle”. The Jack Spergel Memorial Award for Outstanding Technical Paper is yet to be announced. Examples of paper topics include manu facturing processes of copper and opti cal fibre cables, innovative cable design, codes and standards, connectivity and assemblies, installation techniques, ma terials and extrusion processing, sustain ability and recycling, energy smart grid Mabud Choudhury, standards manager at OFS, gave a technical presentation during the 2024 Technical Symposium
