Cleaning usually seeks to reduce or remove this contamination. The individual cleaning methods have their respective strengths in order to achieve the desired result. For more than two decades, GEO Reinigungstechnik has dealt with the cleaning of continuous profiles of wires, ribbons, strands and cables, and offers a range of aqueous and mechanical wire cleaning systems for single- and multi wire applications. Mechanical wire cleaning with brushes, textiles and microfibres removes trouble-causing contamination from the visible surface by mechanical friction. Although brushes or textiles can be very effective, such methods quickly reach their limits. Aqueous cleaning can substantially meet the task of removing contamination even out of the smallest surface defects. Depending on the requirements, high pressure nozzles, steam or ultrasonic modules are used individually or in combination in these systems. Since the cleaning result is determined by several factors, the recommendation for a suitable cleaning process is preceded by analysis of the relevant parameters. Processes are tested in near production conditions at GEO’s test laboratory, allowing the company to build solutions for most types of client request. For the final assessment of the surface quality achieved, GEO offers easy-to-use test devices for daily use in laboratory and production. The company also produces machines that can coat drawn and finished welding wires to maintain their cleanliness. The range is supplemented by accessories such as air wipes, spiral brushes and lubricants.
