Partnership in additive manufacturing Sandvik Coromant has entered into partnership with the Application Center for Additive Manufacturing at RISE (Research Institutes of Sweden).

RISE provides expertise, test environments and a wide range of equipment and materials to find the most suitable path for each company and product. This allows even small and medium-sized companies to have quick and easy access to the latest technology. The centre offers services such as design for additive manufacturing; material and process development; post-processing and quality assurance; and new businesses and business models. Additive manufacturing (AM), commonly known as 3D printing, impacts various sectors. To support the manufacturing industry in embracing the technology and to increase adoption of it in Sweden, RISE founded the Application Center for Additive Manufacturing, in collaboration with industrial partners and academia. Since its inception, the centre has expanded significantly, encompassing a wide range of expertise and equipment, and taking a role in fostering sustainable transitions and resilient value chains. “There are numerous challenges in additive manufacturing,” said Ulf Rolander, senior R&D expert at Sandvik Coromant. “Addressing some of these together with RISE and the centre’s other partners is going to be very exciting.” Sandvik Coromant, the 19 th member of the centre, specialises in providing cutting tools and services to the metal
