Dies & Die Shops

Experience counts! With more than 75 years’ experience, Schaff are ideally placed to offer expert advice on wire drawing dies. There are a number of advantages of pressure dies over conventional wire drawing dies. A conventional wire drawing die has a simple profile with an entry angle, reduction angle, bearing and exit angle. A pressure die is made of two components – a wire drawing die and a pressure nib insert, securely fastened on the wire die, which leads the lubricant in the reducing zone or the so-called pressurised lubricant zone. Exclusive features of the pressure die include pressure nib which clamps on the face to arrest leakages, and the optimum use of lubricant to increase cost savings.

economy is not to allow costly precision wire drawing die tools to deteriorate, as prolonged die tool life will ensure that more wire can be drawn. Eder Engineering, Austria, with 60 years’ experience, is an acknowledged specialist in the field of both advanced drawing die-tools, die processing technology and equipment. As a global supplier and adviser to the international wire and cable industry, Eder offers single equipment in the latest technology to upgrade exis- ting installations, complete die-tool reconditioning workshops and turn- key die-tool production lines, with the entire hard- and software. Modern multi-line wire drawing machines are using many more dies which wait in increasingly larger numbers for reconditioning in die workshops, where skilled operators or suitable die reconditioning are often in short supply. leading conceptions available, Eder has recently designed the ‘USP-TWIN’, the first-ever ultrasonic machine with two workstations for reconditioning of natural and PCD dies. It can be easily handled by one single operator whilst at the same time nearly doubling the output of processed die tools. Savings are also increased on production time with simple dismantling and assembly. Other advantages include a quick change assembly system, minimum use of tools and expertise for dismantling and assembly. Other benefits, which again lead to lower production costs, also include maximising die performance, minimising redundant work during drawing, increased drawing speeds, reduction in down time of the machines and the consistency in wire output.
