Improving the life of the die

Diamond dies, when used effectively, increase the die life, and improve the quality and surface finish on the wire. Mikrotek manufactures various types of dies: viz diamond dies, polycrystalline diamond dies, tungsten carbide dies, PCD enamelling dies, TC enamelling dies, and also offers a reconditioning service and die polishing equipment. The selection of the correct profile and blank ensures good quality wire for a prolonged time. Mikrotek selects the correct die profile and type of blank (fine or coarse grain) for the material drawn, machine design and drawing speed.

The DS/2 Die Saver is a manual grinding and semi-automatic polishing machine featuring an NSK electric spindle and angle setting gauge. It is the ideal multi-purpose machine for reworking dies due to its easy to use grinding and polishing systems. Made of heavy duty construction, it also has a powerful grinding spindle and precision angle setting. Wire or bar mills that use larger than 6mm diameter dies can use the BG6 Die Grinder, featuring the most powerful grinding spindle available (1.2kw). This power, along with the 12° grinding concept and special polishing pins, will provide finished dies in less time with no hand polishing to a 2-4 Ra finish. Die Quip also provide the training and materials needed to make and maintain dies, as well as offering die design material and consulting to help customers produce more tons per die. Proper die design will reduce the overall cost of production compared to reducing the cost of the die.
