Corinth awarded two offshore projects for pipelines in North Sea
Pipeworks’ HFI pipe mill located in Thisvi, Greece; Subsea 7’s installation by reel-lay is scheduled for 2019 and 2020. Subsea 7 is a global contractor in seabed-to-surface engineering, con- struction and services to the offshore energy industry. Aker BP is an E&P company with explo- ration, development and production activities on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS), and is one of the largest independent oil companies in Europe.
Corinth Pipeworks has signed agree- ments with Subsea 7 to manufacture and supply steel pipes for two subsea tieback projects to FPSOs operated by AkerBP in the Norwegian Sea. The agreements cover polypropylene- coated steel outer pipes for pipe-in- pipe flowlines for the Skogul project (14" line pipe for an 18km gas pipeline) and the Aerfugl project (16" line pipe for a 21km gas pipeline). The pipes for the offshore pipeline will be manufactured this year in Corinth

Expro wins new technology award at OTC Houston
Expro’s subsea vice president, Colin Mackenzie, said, “At Expro, we are acutely aware of the challenges facing the industry. The NGLS is the result of a five-year investment and development programme, which we undertook with the aim of delivering an optimal subsea well intervention and commissioning system. This prestigious award recognises our commitment to providing industry solutions, while maintaining our active engagement in the committees responsible for driving these robust subsea safety and integrity standards.” Jean Moritz, Expro’s North and Latin America region vice president, added, “New technology development remains a key focus for Expro. Alongside the NGLS, we are presenting a range of new technologies and partnerships across the full life cycle of the well at OTC Houston. “From advanced reservoir surveillance solutions delivered through our wireless gauge technology, through to later life intervention and abandonment services, we remain fully focused on changing
efficiencies demanded in the energy industry. The NGLS comprises a five-phase programme of work to deliver a complete landing string package, including a range of new functionality across its valves. It incorporates a high debris-tolerant ball mechanism and hydraulic latch mechanism, dual seal protection for both environment and control systems, increased cutting capability, and a fail ‘as is’ retainer valve with the ability to close after a blowout preventer shear scenario. The new functionality is proven through extensive connector testing and analysis, allowing the development of structural and fatigue capacities to increase the operating limits of the overall system. This is complemented by a comprehensive data and fatigue life cycle management system, which increases overall safety and integrity, with the landing string certified Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 2 compliant. In-riser well intervention can also lower well commissioning and intervention costs by minimising rig times, often installing/completing in one run, and improving efficiency during operations.
International oilfield services company Expro has been recognised for its commitment to technological innovation, being awarded a Spotlight on New Technology™ award at this year’s OTC Houston conference. Scrutinised by a panel of industry experts, the awards highlight the best technological innovations from businesses around the world. Expro received the award for its Next Generation Landing String (NGLS). Launched at last year’s OTC conference, this in-riser well intervention technology meets the integrity, compliance and robustness required of landing strings under the upcoming API 17G 3 rd edition, while also delivering the time and cost
industry demands.” Expro Group – UK www.exprogroup.com
