Cured-in-place pipe market likely to reach $2.6bn in 2023
of the global CIPP market during the forecast period. Small diameter pipes require less funding and are easy to install compared to large diameter pipes. This has resulted in a huge installed base of small diameter pipes. Based on the resin type, polyester resin- based CIPP is expected to remain the largest segment of the market during the forecast period. Polyester resin impregnates liner materials well and can be cured even when ambient temperatures drop to near or below freezing. However, vinyl ester resin-based CIPP is likely to witness the highest growth over the next five years, owing to its caustic and high-temperature material resistance properties. It offers better impact resistance and is stronger than the polyester resin-based CIPP construction. In terms of fabric type, polyester fabric- based CIPP is projected to remain the largest segment during the forecast period. Polyester fabric exceeds the desired tensile strength and meets the ASTM D461 standard. Glass fabric is likely to remain the second largest but fastest-growing fabric type, and is the preferred choice for CIPP where curing is performed by UV. North America is expected to remain the largest CIPP market during the forecast period, as the region has most of the pipelines installed post-World War II that are at retirement age and need rehabilitation. Asia-Pacific is likely to remain the fastest- growing market. Various emerging countries in the region, such as China, have been practicing other technologies for the rehabilitation of pipelines but have now started implementing CIPP at a faster rate.
According to Stratview Research, the global cured-in-place pipe market offers growth opportunities and is likely to reach US$2,615.4mn in 2023. Major growth drivers of the global CIPP market include ageing potable and sewage water structure, increasing spending by municipalities and utilities on rehabilitation, increasing awareness of the benefits of trenchless techniques, and the performance of CIPP over competing technologies. The report divides the cured-in-place pipe market into seven segments: by pipe diameter type, resin type, fabric type, cure type, weaving type, coating type and region. Diameters of under one foot are projected to remain the growth engine
Stratview Research has launched a new research report on the cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) market. The 336-page market report studies the global CIPP market over the trend period 2012 to 2017, and a forecast period of 2018 to 2023. The report provides detailed insights on the market dynamics to enable informed business decision-making and growth strategy formulation based on the opportunities present in the market. The CIPP trenchless technique for the rehabilitation of damaged pipelines is gaining popularity. It is suitable for the rehabilitation of pipelines within a wide diameter range, as well as applications including sewer, potable water and storm water.
TechnipFMC and DOF Subsea announce delivery of Skandi Olinda
The Skandi Olinda , a Brazilian-flagged flexible lay and construction vessel owned by the joint venture formed between TechnipFMC and DOF Subsea, has commenced its eight-year charter contract with Petróleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras). The ship has a 340-ton vertical lay system tower capacity, a 2,500-ton under-deck carousel and two work-class remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), allowing it to lay flexible pipes in water depths up to 2,500m. Under the TechnipFMC/DOF joint venture agreement, TechnipFMC will manage flexible pipelay, and DOF will be responsible for marine operations. Arnaud Piéton, president subsea at TechnipFMC, commented, “We are delighted that the Skandi Olinda is
joining our fleet of specialised vessels. This new charter contract with Petrobras reinforces our commitment to the development of the Brazilian market and our extensive ultra-deep water pipe-laying experience. We are looking forward to seeing the vessel delivering projects in the field.” DOF Subsea’s CEO, Mons S Aase, said, “The extensive new-build programme of four PLSVs [pipe-lay support vessels] together with TechnipFMC has com- bined the subsea and vessel expertise across our organisations. Taking final delivery of Skandi Olinda and com- mencing the contract with Petrobras marks the successful conclusion of the new-build programme of the joint ven- ture, which now has six vessels.” TechnipFMC – UK www.technipfmc.com
