FOC US ON GERMANY

Total dedication to steel HIGH quality is vital in the professional steel and shipbuilding industry. With 400 and 500A and up to 100 per cent duty cycle at maximum current, the MAG welding machines from EWM’s Taurus Steel series can help users to achieve their aims.

on offer has been stripped down to the maximum ease-of-operation for all the necessary functions. Elaborate instructions are therefore unnecessary. Optimised steel characteristics for solid and flux-cored wires are provided for synergic and pulse versions as standard, meaning operating errors can be avoided. Each variant in the Taurus Steel range offers MAG standard welding with up to 500A, MMA welding and gouging as standard. The top model – the Taurus Steel puls S – also allows for additional pulse welding. The time required for finishing work is therefore reduced since there is hardly any weld spatter with the pulse welding process. The trolley has large wheels, which overcome obstacles like cables or pressurised air hoses. Furthermore, the handling of the crane via integrated lifting lugs enables quick and safe movement. The shielded gas cylinders can be changed quickly and easily thanks to the low-lying mount. Developed for professional use, all components for either the gas or water- cooled Taurus Steel (as per selection) are robust and large in size. The components for the efficient inverter do not warm up excessively due to the high duty cycle of up to 100 per cent at maximum current. The high power reserve therefore provides a long service life. The service life of consumables for PM and MT MIG/MAG welding torches

Thanks to the latest inverter technology the results on unalloyed and low-alloy steels are outstanding according to EWM. The self-explanatory control concept and the durable EWM quality makes welding simple, even without training. Depending on the model, the Taurus Steel is fitted with manual twin-knob operation or synergic one-knob operation and standard or pulse welding. Taurus Steel is completely focused on one application – the professional and efficient MAG welding of unalloyed and low-alloy steel with solid or flux-cored wire. Each of the varieties and controls

is also high. Thanks to good torch cooling the high-performance pump in the cooling, unit and its specific design, the contact tip remains operational for longer. The high-performance cooling also allows sustained use of the up to 50m hose package – the welding torch remaining cool during operation. The cooling unit is built in a modular way and can be securely mounted and dismounted without specialist staff and without the need for any tools. Two variants of the wire feeder are available: the drive 4X with the low- wear eFeed four-roll drive developed by EWM is suitable for S300 spools. It can pass through manholes and comes with a factory-fit connection socket for MMA welding. The drive 4 D200 wire feeders work with S200 spools and are therefore small and light, able to pass through manholes and come fitted with gas flow regulators as standard. EWM AG is one of Germany’s largest manufacturers of arc welding technology. It develops high-end welding technology and offers complete systems that cover everything from high-quality welding machines (and all associated components), through welding torches, to welding consumables and accesso- ries for manual and automated applications.
