same automatic working cycle. Another new release is the second generation of the F-170 flanging machine. This machine is easy to move from one place to another, so is suited to job sites or pipe fabrication shops. The working cycle is fully automatic, without any tool changes. The F-170 is suitable for pipe diameters from 26.9 to 168.3mm, PN16 Sch 10. T-Drill has also obtained PED (EN 1092-1) approval for its flanging process being suitable for the use of loose flanges without the need for welding or X-raying.

The company will showcase its solutions and products at Tube 2018, including live machine demonstrations, with a particular focus on brand new equipment. One of the latest innovations is the new S-80 collaring machine for butt welded branching of tubes. The S-80 has been developed for thin-walled tubes, to quickly make collars between 19 and 80mm, making it

suitable for high-volume applications for up to 4" pipes. The S-80 has a fully automatic collaring cycle: pilot hole elliptical milling, followed by collar forming, and trimming of the collar. An optional tool changer allows different collar diameters to be made during this T-Drill’s S-80 automatic collaring machine for butt welded branching of tubes

Compliant lubes for copper tubes FOR the tube industry, Condat has developed drawing lubricants dedicated to copper tubes used in air conditioning and refrigeration service. Non-destructive testing technology ISEND is a non-destructive testing (NDT) company specialising in eddy currents and artificial vision. Since 2006, the company has been designing, manufacturing and implementing quality control solutions, as well as providing customer service, in more than ten countries. NDT solutions from ISEND provide safe, reliable and efficient detection and analysis of surface defects, ensuring compliance with international standards

for air conditioning and refrigeration service. They have formulated these lubricants in order to reduce the amount of internal residues while offering the required lubrication level. They defined the formula, the raw materials and the production methods to ensure the lubricants are R134-a compatible. The lubricants are already available under the larger Condatub TFH range, and can be used for copper or aluminium tube drawing. Different viscosity levels are available to respond to different deformation requirements, allowing optimal surface finish and cleaning ability. Some formulations are designed to vanish during heat treatment operations.

request the residues to be compatible with refrigeration gas such as R134-a. Reducing the drawing residues often means drawing with a thinner lubricant layer between the tube surface and the tooling. A high performance lubricant is therefore required to avoid contact between the surfaces even at high speed. The various drawing steps impose a large range of viscosities to cover the different dimensions, deformation ratios and speeds. Compatibility of the lubricant residues

Such tubes must usually comply with standards such as ASTM B280, EN 12735 and NBR 14665. In order to draw the tubes, an oil-based product is often used for the lubrication between the tube and internal mandrel or plug. According to the stated standards, the lubricant residues must be very low. Additionally, some manufacturers

with R134-a gas leads to technological constraints for which reliable knowl- edge and control of the product’s raw materials (such as oil, ester and additives) is required. Condat’s R&D experts have developed lubri- cants dedicated to draw- ing copper tubes intended
