2018 trend for automated tube mills continues SEUTHE GmbH reports that the trend towards automated direct forming tube welding lines, where square and rectangular profiles are produced without tool change, is continuing. The company names this technology FCF – flexible cold forming. Another kind of direct forming is the combination with conventional profiling machines. Here, automated construction stages of the FCF technology and conventional roll stands are combined with one another on change plates. This reduces the changeover times in the roll forming lines. roll axes and roll diameters as well as current process data are stored, and the information can be analysed externally and reproduced. Seuthe manufactures tube welding lines for this purpose, which are specially developed for the automotive sector with low circular run-out tolerances and many special functions.

Each year several tube mills leave Seuthe’s plant in Hemer, Germany. Material savings and rapid profile change are two of the reasons for the popularity of the technology. When a change to a new profile can be carried out in 30 minutes, it is possible to produce small batch sizes, react quickly to market requirements and implement customer demands at short notice. Companies with their own slitting lines can realise 24-hour delivery. Another advantage of the FCF tube mills is that every dimension can be produced within the machine size. This is of importance for customers in countries where both metric and inch dimensions are required. Architects and design engineers benefit from the infinitely variable dimension range, as individual customised dimensions can be used, to offer better options for the design or function, and in connection with small batch sizes. These can be produced reliably and reproducibly at any time.

Danieli to supply advanced cold mill complex to TMZ and MetProm in Central Asia

two-stand reversing mill, which will operate at up to 1,200 mpm, features an optimised mill layout configuration and an advanced tuning system for mill threading and tailing out sequences, which will lead to a high material yield. The hot-dip galvanising line will produce CQ, DQ, DDQ and HSLA coated grades with excellent coating uniformity (down to 40g/m 2 each side at 180 mpm) of strip in thicknesses from 0.3 to 1.2mm, and widths from 800 to 1,250mm. The 300,000-tpy colour- coating line features coaters based on single-slide design that allow specific paint thickness to be applied evenly across the strip surface.

Danieli Automation will supply all the electrical equipment and control systems, including equipment control and process control for the entire complex, providing an integrated and optimised system configuration. Danieli Service will provide the DMMS suite for preventive maintenance, spare parts, personnel, equipment costs and fault analysis management, according to Industry 4.0. Turnkey construction will be undertaken by Russian MetProm, and the new complex will come on stream gradually in 2019.

TOSHKENT Metallurgiya Zavodi (TMZ) and MetProm have awarded Danieli the design and supply of what is claimed to be the most advanced cold mill complex in Central Asia. The new complex, which will process 500,000 tpy of cold rolled galvanised and painted material to cover the au- tomotive non-exposed panels, appli- ances and construction market require- ments, will be installed in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The push-pull pickling section, based on Danieli Turboflo technology, combines efficient tank design and process control to ensure the production of iron oxide-free strip over the entire product range and strip speeds.
