Successful installations by EFD Induction LAST year EFD Induction introduced silicon carbide transistors in some of its high frequency, solid-state welders. This has proven to be a success with customers around the world.

exhibitions this autumn, including Tube China and EuroBLECH. At all the exhibitions visitors will be able to see induction heating in action. “Using a Minac, which is one of our most versatile products, our staff will demonstrate just how flexible and easy to use this mobile induction heat generator really is,” said Mr Runeborg. “Come and see for yourself how fast and precise our equipment heats cold steel red hot, again and again.” The Minac, which is portable and small enough to be loaded into a car, brings the benefits of induction heating to hard-to-access workpieces. It can be used for a wide range of applications, including brazing, shrink fitting, hardening, curing and straightening, and is suitable for heating all kinds of electrically conductive materials such as copper, aluminium, steel, stainless steel, brass and titanium. In the case of stationary installations, EFD Induction offers the advanced and reliable Sinac universal heat generator, which can be custom engineered to optimally fit customer applications and integrate into existing production lines and processes. “Our exhibition stands will be manned with people who are experts in their field,” said Mr Runeborg. “So, if you have questions or things you would like to discuss with us, please drop by and we will do our best to find suitable solutions for your induction heating needs.”

“When we see that they will be of specific benefit to our customers, EFD Induction offers SiC transistors as an alternative to IGBT,” said global sales director for tube and pipe Peter Runeborg. “In fact, we have now delivered welders with SiC transistors to customers in North America, Europe and Asia. These have ranged in power from a couple of hundred kilowatts to an amazing 1,850 kW.” SiC transistors have proven to work efficiently in high frequency welders, which are suitable for smaller pipes where impeder size is limited. Weldac is EFD Induction’s family of high-output, solid-state tube and pipe welders, which covers a wide range of power sizes – from 50 to 2,200 kW. As one of the world’s largest induction heating manufacturers, EFD Induction is a leader in induction heating technology, solutions and application expertise.

“Our heating solutions are employed throughout many demanding industries where they are renowned for their compactness, productivity, reliability and efficiency,” said Mr Runeborg. “Ultimately, of course, this is providing significant advantages to our customers.” Induction produces quick, accurate, controllable and repeatable heat, which makes it an excellent method for various applications used in the heating of metals. “For the tube and pipe industry, for example, induction is used not only for longitudinal seam welding but for annealing as well as pre- and post- heating,” said Mr Runeborg. EFD Induction has a comprehensive range of solutions for the tube and pipe industry, and through EHE Consumables it offers a full range of consumables including coils, ferrite, impeders and tube scarfing equipment. All of its products are supported by a global network of EFD Induction factories, workshops and offices, meaning after-sales service and support are available. EFD Induction will also be participating at several upcoming
