W ELDING EQUIPMENT
Those who think of modern welding – smooth, speedy, accurate to a fault – as an almost academic exercise should know that Hollywood thinks otherwise. In The Green Hornet, welders, helmets, gloves and accessories are features of the lab run by the superhero’s sidekick Kato, who invents the Hornet’s special auto, the Black Beauty, and his trademark sleeping-gas gun. Welding apparatus also commands important screen time in both Iron Man and Iron Man II. To companies engaged in the design, development and manufacture of welding products, this mature process doesn’t need the advertising. But there is no concealing from the discerning eye the possibilities of the products and services reviewed in this section.
