A project winning partnership for tube mills and finishing equipment

Working in partnership, Bronx International and Abbey International have recently been awarded several high profile projects across the global industry. With over 100 years of industry experience, Bronx/Taylor- Wilson is a provider of finishing solutions with over 3,500 global installations, while Abbey manufactures a range of advanced ERW pipe mills. Bronx/Taylor-Wilson has recently won new orders from Baoshan Steel, China,  Bronx supply six and ten roll straighteners to a number of high profile global projects

for the supply of three API heavy-duty pipe straighteners and one API high- pressure hydrostatic pipe tester. Two of the straighteners are the Bronx series 6.CR.11 machine, which is specially designed for straightening high yield API pipe at diameters up to 431.8mm with wall thickness at 31.8mm. Both machines will be used for inline operations, with one straightening hot pipe at temperatures above 600°C. The BTW series 6.CR.11 straightening machine excels in handling the stringent straightening demands for high yield tubing and casing throughout the world. The third straightener will be a specially designed Bronx 6.CR.12 and one of the largest six roll straighteners built since Bronx installed a 610mm machine in Germany over thirty years ago. The 6.CR.12 will be used for straightening diameters up to 457mm with a wall thickness of 55mm and yield strengths approaching 1130 MPa.

The hydrotester will address the alternative pressures that are required within the stringent demands of the growing OCTG market. The machine will be capable of testing API 5CT product up to Ø 339.7mm with pressures up to 140 MPA. Other recent orders for Bronx/Taylor-Wilson include a 273mm hydrotester at V&M Star in Houston, USA. The company also supplied two hydrotesters (for 244.5mm and 139.7mm) at different Ipsco plants in the USA, as well as a 339.7mm tester in Chengdu, China.  Abbey’s patented CCT Quick Change System tube mill, as supplied to Prolamsa in Mexico
