The existing quick- lift mechanism has been retrained because it has proved extremely beneficial in terms of extended trim tool life. Originally started in 1917 as a roll forming machine builder, the company was purchased, relocated and transformed into a tube mill manufacturer in 1988. A large proportion of the company’s business includes the retrofit and replacement of common tube mill components. These include driven roll stands, idle side roll stands, weld squeeze boxes and turkshead type straighteners. Rafter Equipment Corporation also provides weld upset bead removal equipment such as OD bead trimmers. Rafter has recently introduced a newly designed OD bead trimmer unit. The goal of the new design is to increase the unit’s long-term serviceability and ease operator adjustments. This was accomplished by enclosing the working parts of the unit inside the main-frame and adding covers to both the sliding ways and the frame assembly itself.
