New lubricants for phosphated steel tubes CONDAT has used its 160 years of expertise in the formulation of lubricants to develop a comprehensive range of products dedicated to the tube market. The CondatUB product range covers all tube processes and applications such as hot and cold forming for tubes and bars in rolled, drawn, formed or extruded processes. It has been designed to answer specific issues for all metals and includes graphite and ceramics dispersions, non-reactive and reactive soaps, soluble lubricants, neat oils and surface protection products. Phosphate conversion treatment is often used for carbon steel. It provides an excellent corrosion protection, reduces the friction coefficient at the interface and thus facilitates the drawing processes. As a consequence phosphated carbon steel tubes are often used in applications where the final dimensional and surface quality compliance are of the utmost importance (such as automotive parts, hydraulic jacks and bearings).
