CUTTING TECHNOLOGY, SAWING & SAW BLADES
Cutting tubes more sustainably as Moreschi focuses on reducing environmental impact
Not only is the core of blades recycled instead of thrown away, but also costs reduced by 30 per cent, making the service environmental and customer friendly. Performance of the tools remains the same, sometimes even better compared to new blades and the service can be made many times. Only in the last two years 20 per cent of blades produced were made using infinity cut technology, resulting in saving approximately 25 tons of raw materials a year. Another significant move towards sustainability was an investment in a 140KWP photovoltaic plant in 2022. The new plant is generating 150MWH of clean energy a year, corresponding to 27 per cent of the energy needed for production in companies’ main facilities. As a result, 79,500kg of CO 2 were not released into the atmosphere. To put this into perspective, a single tree typically absorbs about 10kg of CO 2 per year. Thus, the Moreschi plant avoids the release of CO 2 equivalent to
emissions absorbed by approximately 7,950 trees annually. Moreschi also offers service solutions that prolong blade life, such as PVD coating, customised geometry, technical support to optimise cutting parameters all playing a part in reducing waste. This year the company has made new investments and has installed a second unit of Platit coating equipment with a capacity of coating blades up to 1,400mm of diameter. It means that the companies’ capability to coat tools has increased more than twice. It is also an innovation in the market of blades, as there are only a few producers that can offer coating for big dimension blades. “Visitors to the Moreschi stand at Tube Düsseldorf 2024 will gain the understanding of how important the environment is for us,” said Marco Moreschi, the founder and director of the company. “Our concern extends beyond preservation of our beloved mountain territory in Italy. The emissions of gas from combustion of fossil sources are alternating average temperatures and are worsening the quality of air we breathe. “We believe that everyone can contribute to positive changes. As a company, we have decided to start with ourselves. We aspire to make our products as environmentally friendly as possible, offering our clients solutions that not only meet their expectations, but also align with our commitment to sustainability and circular economy.”
MORESCHI Srl, an Italian saw blade manufacturer, is busy preparing for Tube Düsseldorf 2024. This year the company will showcase an unconventional booth without new furniture or stands for brochures. Instead, Moreschi’s booth will feature furnishings and decorations crafted from its recycled production waste, embodying the company’s commitment to sustainability and an inventive approach. Sustainability has always been an important topic at the company. Dating back to 2013 the company has committed to minimising waste. One of the actions taken was encouraging its customers to send their used blades for maintenance and sharpening services, using the same packaging and protection that were previously supplied with the new blades. A key innovation in terms of sustainability was implemented in 2016. With its patented service called Infinity Cut, Moreschi transforms blades destined for disposal into new tools.

Reducing down time while cutting on a tube mill RANDOLPH Tool vertical and horizontal tube cut off blades, as well as jaws/dies, are manufactured with advanced tooling processes, by craftsmen with an eye for precision and a reputation for ensuring that the blades are extremely flat and smooth. The blades therefore cause less friction during the cutting process, which in turn makes the tooling last longer. The longer your tooling lasts, the less down time you will have on the tube mill, which means more production time on the mill. The blades lasting longer will also mean that you have spent less on your total tooling budget at the end of your fiscal year. Customers have the potential of their blades lasting even longer by adding coatings. Randolph Tool Co has many different coatings available to best suit the material that is being cut. You can also contact Randolph Tool directly for a consultation to see how the company can reduce the down time of your specific tube mill. Randolph Tool Co Inc www.randolphtoolco.com
