We have interesting interviews from legendary Italian company Faccin and from new saw blade manufacturer Azak, based in Turkey. We also take a look at the BORU 2019 trade show in Turkey and TOLexpo 2019 in France. While technology is becoming ever more prevalent in our industry with the rise of AI and automation, I am heartened to see that the face-to-face interaction with real people from all over the world that you enjoy at a good trade show is still vital. Reading reviews of several events this issue – such as Tube India and EuroBLECH – it was good to hear about rising visitor numbers and more companies taking up ever more floor space. Whatever advances we make, you just cannot beat that human interaction when completing a deal. In the forthcoming issue we have features on cutting, sawing & saw blades; inspection, testing & quality control; and Tube Russia 2019. The editorial deadline is 9 January.
