Polyethylene pipe specialist GPS PE Pipe Systems has launched New Yellow, claimed to be the first UK-manufactured yellow polyethylene pipe range with a black core for gas installations. The move builds on the success of the company’s New Blue range of pipes for the water industry, which was launched in 2012 and is now fully operational in numerous utilities improvement schemes throughout the UK. Designed to meet the current and future challenges of the gas industry, New Yellow delivers a number of additional benefits. Offering improved resistance to slow crack growth (SCG) in larger diameter pipes, New Yellow also provides greater continuity and stability within the supply chain. With a co-extruded wall of an outer yellow layer and black core designed to be consistent across the range, from 75 to 225mm diameter in a PE80 configuration and 250 to 630mm in a PE100CR (crack resistant) configuration, the New Yellow range is compatible with GPS’s existing fittings portfolio and fully compliant with GIS PL2-2.
