Entry-level Alpha1 with display Not every application requires the functionality of the high-class circulator Alpha2. In 2012, Grundfos introduced the basic version Alpha2 L as a solution for standard tasks in heating services. The company has now introduced the new Alpha1 model, with a display to show the current power consumption. With permanent magnet motor technology and integrated speed control, it provides high efficiency and has already met the requirements of the second stage of the EuP Directive from August 2015 with a less than 0.23 EEI. A typical use for the Alpha1 is boiler loading, where it works more efficiently than conventional unregulated pumps because of its speed control. The design of the Alpha1 is based on the proven concept of the Alpha2 models. The new version is equipped with an LED display on which the current power consumption of the pump can be read in watts. Additional features include a built-in memory to store settings in the event of a power failure, overload protection, and the ability to replace only the pump head if the installed housing is in good condition or not easily accessible.

insulation jackets with a heat transfer coefficient of only 0.35W / (m² K).

As an efficient, EuP compliant pump, the Alpha1 is suitable for standard applications in heating services that have been operated in the past with unregulated UPS pumps.

Eight versions are available for 4 or 6m head in the lengths 130 and 180mm, and a stainless steel version is also available. The functional range is designed for the most important tasks in heating services. The pump has two constant pressure, two proportional pressure and three constant-speed characteristics.

The installer benefits from the Alpha1 thanks to the plug-and-pump technology with the practical Alpha plug, which is now also available in angled form. The scope of delivery includes high-quality

The latest addition to PIPE Ltd’s split frame cold cutting and bevelling machine range is the Hypercutter. This rugged, heavy-duty steel split frame machine is designed for the cold cutting and bevelling of pipes of up to 108" diameter, producing square cuts and weld ready machine finish bevels. The Hypercutter is hydraulically powered, giving it the strength to machine even the toughest of materials, in the most arduous of working environments. Each Hypercutter covers a 12" diameter range. PIPE has also extended its line of hot cutting systems. The E-Z Cut range allows the cutting and bevelling of pipes of almost any diameter, wall thickness and material. The machines are suitable for use with oxy-acetylene, propane or plasma cutting systems, dependent on the application. Using guide bands for sizes above 18" ensures 100 per cent square cuts and bevels. The E-Z Cut range is available as a manual hand crank model, and 110V or 230V motorised versions.

clamped on the pipe the cut and bevel is produced by an inner rotating ring that houses cutting tools mounted in spring loaded toolboxes, which follow the contour of the pipe to produce an accurate weld preparation. Cutting tools are available to machine mild steel, stainless steel and exotic materials such as duplex and super duplex. Machines are available with electric, pneumatic or hydraulic motors, and models are available to cut from 1" to 60" pipe, with all types of weld preparation achievable on wall thicknesses up to 60mm.

PIPE Ltd, established in 1989, is a supplier of specialist pipework fabrication tools and handling equipment for on-site or workshop requirements. The company manufactures and supplies a range of hot and cold cutting and bevelling solutions for pipes of almost any material, wall thickness and diameter, and is able to cater for any cutting and bevelling requirements, whether cold or hot cutting, for workshop or on-site environments. Two of the most popular machines in the company’s range are split frame cutting and bevelling machines, the heavy- duty steel frame Supercutter and the lightweight alloy body MCA Clamshell. These machines are designed for the cold cutting and bevelling of pipes up to 60" OD, where the use of a hot cutting method is prohibited or a machined bevel is required. The split frame design enables the operator to mount the machine anywhere along a pipeline to cut and bevel the pipe simultaneously. Suitable for on-site work or in areas where there is restricted access to the pipe due to their low profile design, once
