Upcast Oy Stand: 09 C06

The casting method, also known as the Upcast ® process, was originally developed within the Finnish Outokumpu Group in the late 1960s. The rst Upcast production line was installed in 1971 at the group’s own facilities in Pori, Finland, and is still in operation and up to date thanks to a number of modernisations. This rst production line was followed by a continuous string of lines delivered worldwide. upwards continuous

2D wire forming and welding machine specialist Ultimation’s stand will be sta ed by managing director Tim Busby and sales director Martin Smith, together with agents from around the world. The company will be exhibiting the UCW-40 cross/brace wire tee welding machine, designed for the automatic T welding of cross wires (brace wires) into frames used for appliance shelving and air conditioning units. Also on show will be the UMW-40 wire forming and welding machine, suitable for a wire range of 2 to 4mm, designed for manufacturers of air lter frames, lampshades, point of purchase displays and other applications. The UMW can be combined with the UCW-40 model to create an integrated forming and welding cell, to produce completed frames, with all wires fed direct from coil. The full ultimat UM range of two-axis, PC-controlled wire forming machines feature a ‘closed die’ forming and cutting system, giving a high-quality square, burr-free cut and butt weld. Options available include secondary bend heads for intricate forms; tilting table models for larger components or for forming spiral forms used in fan guards; press, drilling, threading and chamfering stations; and automatic part unloading systems.

Ullrich Machinery Company Stand: TBC

Specialised fence machine manufacturer Ullrich Machinery Company (UMC) has announced another sale of its Fence Lokk Machine (FLM). The sale is to a new client in the Northern Hemisphere. The exibility of being able to produce two di erent types of fabricated fences on one machine was identi ed as a key feature behind the purchase. Also highlighted was the smaller factory footprint required, long length rolls, tensile strength of the knots and the lower environmental impact of the FLM machine. While recent design improvements were focused around customer require- ments, an important factor for UMC was the need to further reduce the environmental impact of its machinery. The modular design, interchangeable components, standardisation of materials and improved manufacturing practices have enabled UMC to further improve its environmental in uence. This approach to manufacturing and the requirement for social and environmental accountability by UMC key partners and suppliers underlines the machinery-building programme. UMC has also been working closely with international aquaculture technology companies to utilise its patented knot tying process for large o shore copper alloy containment systems. The M Lokk double knuckle edge nishing knot used on chain link style mesh o ers system providers an improvement in strength and structural integrity. The ability to o er a secure, semi-rigid, 100 per cent recyclable copper alloy wire M Lokk mesh is allowing farming systems to go further o shore into higher energy sites. UMC is a family company based in New Zealand, and has been producing wire fencing products and fence making machinery for nearly 90 years. Ullrich Machinery Company Ltd www.umcmachinery.com

Upcast continuous casting technology

As a result of Outokumpu Group’s decision to divest its copper business, a new independent company named Upcast Oy was established in 2006 to carry Upcast into the future. Upcast Oy is the exclusive supplier of the original Upcast process. The company’s experts will be available to meet interested parties during the entire week, in order to answer questions and nd solutions, whether about casting of OF-Cu rod of various sizes, other shapes than rod ( at bar, pro les), SGTube, any Cu alloys or those of other non-ferrous metals. The company will also have news to share regarding its new professional SW programme for the maintenance optimisation of the casting lines. Upcast Oy www.upcast.com

A UMW-series wire forming and welding machine

The versatile ultimat design removes the need for special tooling to produce high-quality parts and components. Special versions can be supplied for use with at strip or pro led wire. Ultimation’s product line is not limited to standard wire forming machines, as the company also designs and manufactures special-purpose models to suit customer requirements.
