When a die is chosen for a draw, it is assumed to have a symmetrical bearing – ideally a perfect cylinder. Most wire drawers and die shop managers have experienced that this is not always the case – often the hard way, with wire breaks, oval cross-sections or deformed surfaces as a result. With the CU11 series of die measurement systems, Conoptica is providing a detailed view into the bearing of the die. With the unique Bearing Asymmetry 3D Analysis function, any variation and inclination of the bearing is displayed both as easy to interpret numbers and as an intuitive illustration. This removes the subjectivity of the microscope inspection, and replaces it with consistent and repeatable measurements, all with the accuracy that has been a trademark for Conoptica for over 20 years. During Interwire 2019 Conoptica will display the CU11S along with its large-diameter CU20 system, and will welcome everyone to the booth for a demonstration of the power of the asymmetry measurement functionality. Fil-Tec Booth: 1301

Fil-Tec Inc o ers a complete line of performance yarns for application in power cables, copper and bre optic telecom and speciality cables. Products on display will include binder yarns with water-blocking, non-wicking, ame-retardant/low-smoke nishes; core yarns; rip cords; ller yarns; marker yarns; and breglass reinforcement yarns. The latest products on display will be dry core yarn for dry core cable designs; virtually dust-free water blocking binder yarns; and a new line of water-blocking yarns for power cable applications.

A range of yarns on o er from Fil-Tec

The company’s water swellable binder and core (wrap around the FRP) yarns o er the following bene ts: • Very low dust, extends life of bearings and other moving parts of the equipment • Less downtime due to mechanical maintenance related to SAP dust problems • Less clean-up time • Cleaner working environment for the operator Its technology produces a water swellable binder with higher yield, meaning a lower cost per kilometre of cable produced. It also produces a package that o ers: • Integrity and balance • Speeds of 5,000 rpm without unwanted vibration • More metres per package, meaning longer runs without a break and a more e cient stranding process overall
