CabWire in the classroom!

Web’s new CEO Web Industries, a provider of precision converting services for flexible materials and a value-added outsource manufacturer for businesses in the aerospace, medical, personal care and industrial sectors, has named Mark Pihl as its chief executive officer. Mr Pihl advanced from his previous position as Web’s president and COO and assumed the role of CEO on 1 st January. He succeeds outgoing CEO Donald Romine. “I wish to thank the board of directors for its confidence in me to lead the business through a period of transformative growth and expansion,” said Mr Pihl. 50 th anniversary and it is an honour to lead our team as we enter a new phase in the company’s development.” Mr Pihl joined Web Industries in 2000 and focused his extensive experience in executive and operations leadership roles on the business’s scalable growth, talent development and financial health. The next morning offers a visit to Prysmian Cables & Systems, located in nearby Eastleigh, for a tour of its customer centre, optical factory, special cables factory and the viewing platform of the high-voltage laboratory. EDUCATION has been brought to the forefront with the staging of this year’s CabWire Fundamentals Workshop from 2 nd to 3 rd April at the University of Southampton, UK. Organisers the International Wire and Machinery Association (IWMA) are staging the two-day event, with delegates having the opportunity to take part in expert-led talks and training with a ferrous and non-ferrous programme featuring key topics such as wire drawing, stranding, extrusion, armouring, dies for wire drawing, LV cable design, galvanising, automation systems, fire resistance of cables and induction heating. The event on the university’s Highfield campus will hear from training lead Amanda Shehab and a key note from Prysmian Group, before a series of 45-minute sessions running through the day. Attendees will also get the chance to tour the university’s high-voltage laboratory and visit the table-top exhibition in the main break out area. “The decision to run a CabWire Fundamentals event came out of the success of 2017, when all the sessions were
