Alloy developments are expected to result in cost savings and thus secure the best possible cost e ciency for customers. Upcast lines have been suitable for casting 100 per cent recycled material for some years, and the process will remain environmentally friendly with no harmful emissions or need for waste treatment. Upcast also provides fast, reliable and continuous customer service and support for consumables, spare parts and technical support by telephone, online and on site.

These improvements to the range have been achieved together with a recent general modernisation and expansion of the production plants. Automated lines and machines have been installed, with greater orientation towards Industry 4.0, and with enhancements of the company ERP system. O ces and production plants are located in Ancarano, in the centre of Italy near the Adriatic Sea. The production capacity of both companies is approximately 50,000 tons.

Vision Engineering will be presenting its latest range of metrology systems, the Swift Pro (Duo, Cam and Elite). Swift Pro is a powerful yet simple to operate range of non-contact measuring systems. Combining the latest optical and video measurement technologies, the Swift Pro is suitable for a broad range of applications from electronics and aerospace to plastic and medical parts manufacturing where reporting and quality control is in demand. Thanks to its design, fast and accurate three-axis measurement and user-friendly interface, the Swift Pro provides shop oor operators with a quick and easy way of measuring components and reporting. With simplicity at its core the system can be used by shift workers or advanced users, requiring only minimal training. This decreases sta costs and reduces operator errors. Swift Pro’s feature-rich software is easy to learn and operate, providing instant pro le and surface measurement, advanced reporting, and basic system control. Samples that were previously di cult to view can be measured more accurately with a new HD video camera with video edge detection (VED), and fully dimmable stage illumination. Measuring stages of 200mm x 100mm and 150mm x 100mm provide up to 5μm accuracy, and o er a choice of either a robust QC3000 controller/microprocessor or easy to use PC software o ering exibility and small footprints. The Swift Pro Duo video measuring system incorporates an ergonomic measuring microscope.

Videx has recently developed large diameter machines for straightening, cutting to length, chamfering, extruding, forging and thread rolling. These new lines join the traditional Videx lines of U-bolt machines, threaded rod machines and thread rollers for headed fasteners. Videx has shipped another M-48 (2") forging line to a company in the USA, comprising the following machines: • Bar-feeder and bar shear, accepting 6-8 metre long bars and cropping them to length • Bar-end chamfer cutting machine • Bar-end extrusion machine, from major to pitch diameter • Conveyor through an induction heating machine • 300-ton forging machine; dual station, solid die, forming the hex without trimming • Cooling conveyor • Thread roller Videx will be showing two machines in operation: • Model VAS-20-DBQ (M-6 to M-12) fully automatic bent bolt machine, for the production of U-bolts and eye-bolts. The machine pulls the wire from coil, straightens it, cuts to length, thread rolls on both sides and bends to shape. The new VAS-20-DBQ is designed with an adjustable bending die, allowing the operator to produce any size of U-bolt within the machine’s range, while changing only the bending hammer.
