wire 2018 show

16 th - 20 th April

Contour Check Wire systems are designed for in-line measurements of wire with diameters between 0.5 and 30mm. They measure with a precision of ± 8µm. If operated at temperatures below 40°C, they do not require any cooling. The compactness of the hardware allows the sensor units to be easily integrated into existing lines or used as mobile units at several positions within a factory. Like all LAP systems, they are designed for harsh steel mill environments, and are built to operate reliably under the conditions typically found in rolling mills, delivered with a sturdy housing and ready to use in virtually no time. For Dr Ralph Föhr, head of LAP’s Industry Systems business unit, it was important to develop a system that could be sold at an a ordable price: “Customers using the new Contour Check Wire system can save between €50,000 to €200,000 on material and production costs yearly. As the systems cost much less than the amounts saved, the return on investment occurs very fast, especially in factories operating several lines.” Measured values are displayed both numerically and graphically on the touchscreen of the system’s panel PC. Integration into the factory infrastructure is possible via optional interfaces. During the last 25 years, LAP has installed over 300 laser-optical contour measuring systems to customers in the steel industry. Lukas a family-owned manufacturer from Bavaria, Germany, founded in 1959 to produce customer-speci c equipment for the wire and cable industry. Lukas’s focus is on complete taping lines with taping materials such as PTFE, Kapton, Mica, paper or metal. For producing special cables for medical, aircraft or power applications Lukas taping lines can be found among the facilities of many suppliers worldwide. The company’s product range covers single components, like payo s, capstans, caterpillars, sintering ovens and take-ups, up to complete rewinding lines and ne wire drawing lines for non-ferrous materials. management, sales, customer support, assembly warehouse and logistics development. Madem brings a global presence with manufacturing plants in Brazil, Spain and Bahrain. Moorecraft Reels will bring its market experience and business expertise to expand the joint venture in North America. “We are very proud to join forces with Moorecraft, a company with 51 years’ experience manufacturing wooden reels in the USA,” said Gino Mazzoccato, president of Madem. “Certainly the JV will add value to our global customer base, while developing customers located in the USA.” Madem Group is a nailed wooden reels producer. It produces more than 400 container loads of knock-down reels every month, to supply 120 cable factories in 40 countries. Moorecraft Reels, founded in 1966, manufactures and distributes nailed wooden reels for the wire and cable industry in the mid-Atlantic region of the United States. Magnetic Analysis Corp (MAC), now celebrating 90 years of serving the metals industry, will be exhibiting the Minimac® eddy current tester together with a full range of information on NDT test systems for wire, rod, and bar. The Minimac 55 is often used with high speed test coils to detect butt welds, breaks and/or broken strands, laps, seams, slivers and cracks in magnetic and non-magnetic grades of wire for automotive applications, at speeds up to 4,000ft per minute. Typically, large spools of stranded copper automotive wire are run through an extrusion line. However, it is di cult and time consuming to thread the wire when the end of a wire coil is near, so the beginning of the next coil is welded to the end of the previous one to maintain a constant run. The Minimac 55 detects the butt weld during the extrusion and coating process. Outputs are tracked by the customer’s PLC and allow the weld zone to be cut out down-line, before shipping to the end user. MAC’s Minimac 55 is a single-channel compact eddy current tester designed for production line applications. Madem SA – Brazil Website : www.mademreels.com Magnetic Analysis Corp Stand: 06I12

The stand will feature a horizontal taping machine using a new drive concept, ensuring a further improvement of quality in the taping technology. A hollow shaft drive, together with a lightweight carbon head, improves the running qualities in such a way that the production speed can be increased and frictional wear is reduced. In addition, component design has been revised for easier handling and better serviceability. Lukas Anlagenbau GmbH – Germany Website : www.lukas-anlagenbau.de Brazil-based Madem Reels Group, a manufacturer of wooden reels for the wire and cable industry, has embarked on a joint venture with USA-based Moorecraft Reels, Inc. The venture, Madem-Moorecraft Reels USA, will provide wooden cable reels throughout North America. Madem Reels will provide its proprietary manufacturing technology, including CNC and ink jet machinery, to the venture. Moorecraft will provide general Madem Reels Group Stand: 12E09
