“In recent years, we have shifted from buying finished goods overseas to sourcing core/raw cable domestically and managing end-production in-house including coil winding, printing and packaging,” said Mr Rizzo. “This allows us to protect our dealers from unforeseen global supply shortages such as those experienced during Covid-19. This greater manufacturing control allows us to apply new innovations to further benefit installers and improve the installation experience.” Commenting on the new appointment, Mr Rizzo said, “Tim brings tremendous channel and operational expertise to ICE Cable Systems. Worldwide he is the foremost expert in reel-less packaging technology and possesses deep experience in running all aspects of an organisation within our industry. This is the perfect synergy.” Mr Copp added, “Collaborating with Brian as a partner for more than a dec ade, I have experienced first-hand ICE circular solutions for end-of-life materials (such as used rigging materials) and supporting customers to optimise the reuse of resources as part of an asset management project. Although the role is based at the company’s headquarters in Rotterdam, Netherlands, the position will oversee the entirety of the group, including its UK division, with a primary office in Aberdeen and a secondary branch in Sheffield, to align commercial and operational teams in the Netherlands, Norway and the UK. With numerous patents to his name, Mr Copp brings more than 20 years of experience as an expert in reel less cable packaging technology. He spent 21 years with Reelex Packing Solutions, Inc, progressing from brand manager to business development VP. At Reelex he was involved in a variety of business functions, including marketing, operations and product development. ICE Cable Systems was an early adopter of Reelex, having incorporated the specialised figure-eight coil into its bulk cable cartons to ensure installers get an optimum pulling experience. As a result, ICE president Brian Rizzo and Mr Copp already have a successful working history together that spans more than a decade.
