Preheater range for enhanced manufacturing efficiency

The systems precisely calculate the temperature increases required to heat the wire from ambient to the desired preheating temperature. Designed to withstand the rigorous demands of harsh manufacturing environments, the Preheater features the rugged Visu-Touch 7" capacitive touchscreen operator interface, with flexible positioning via a standard VESA mount. Three Preheater models are available, with power ratings of 8, 16 or 25kW, covering wire diameter ranges up to 6mm. Each model includes an Ethernet TCP/IP service interface as standard, with additional interface options such as serial RS-232/-422/-485, Profibus DP, Profinet IO and Ethernet/IP. An optional interface allows connection to external temperature measuring systems such as the Zumbach Autac 300, for closed-loop temperature control.

Zumbach Electronic, an expert in non contact measuring technologies for the wire and tube industry, has introduced the new in-line induction wire Preheater range, offering improvements in productivity and product quality. The Preheater range is built around an intelligent induction power controller, ensuring stable and linear heating of conductors. This advancement is claimed to enhance extrusion productivity and improve product quality. Through extensive product develop- ment, the Preheater range now includes integrated wire speed sensors that automatically adjust power output, automated range selection, and smart self-monitoring capabilities. These features ensure repeatable and uniform conductor temperatures, shortening start-up times and reducing waste. The Preheater range supports 20 different materials, with three fixed and 17 configurable recipes to meet specific composition and heating requirements.

measurement and control in applications with conductor preheating or post annealing stages. The system consists of a sensor and a processor unit, for precise non-contact temperature measurement using the convective heat flow principle, from 10°C to 300°C on wires and cables with a diameter range from 0.2 to 7mm (0.008" to 0.28"). The measurement is independent of in fluencing factors such as colour, emis sion, speed, material or surface structure. The measuring head is slotted and can be changed without interruption. There is no need to thread the wire. Zumbach Electronic AG www.zumbach.com
