positioned or sorted out. The measured values determine the laying correction. Operator workload is reduced, as manual handling of the snap ring is no longer necessary, and the adjustment of the laying roller width is automated. Active tensionmeasurement andcontrol ensures optimum processing of the individual wires into a shed bundle. In addition to classic metal wires, the automatic winder can be used for plastic products such as PTFE. Kurre will also present a new generation of high-speed taping machines at wire 2022. The newly developed machine can tape reliably and evenly at a speed of 1,500 rpm, even with tension forces down to 1N. This is possible because the tension force of the taping material (film, fleece, etc) is actively measured and readjusted via an integrated dancer. Even unsintered PTFE in a width of 3mm can be used at the maximum speed. Any deviations in tension force are made visible and logged. The taping process is displayed on a second monitor via a stroboscopic lamp and a camera. Round and oval products, from a standing or rotating process, are optimally banded. The company has also further developed the laboratory extruder for customer internal product engineering. The current model is used to simulate different screw designs. In the extrusion process, nine sensors provide detailed data processing.

The design has been improved, making it tougher and more powerful. The battery-powered KTR-3 ACNL hydraulic straightener handles wires/bars up to 32mm maximum diameter, with a 380 bar operating pressure and 11-metric-ton pressure capacity. While being easy to operate, it remains fast and flexible. Equipped with a sturdy rotatable straightening head and a rocker switch for easy forward/backward feed control, it is powered by an 18V Li-ion battery to ensure maximum flexibility. The KTR-3 ACNL is suitable for straighten ing wire when working off coils, as well as wire samples in the testing lab.

analysis, and its output is not compro mised by dirt, powder, steam, water or other pollution in the environment. The robust design has no moving parts and requires little maintenance. The device can be placed at different checkpoints on the mill to monitor the most critical aspects of production under each customer’s preferences. The control points can be installed anywhere from intermediate mill to final stand. ISEND, SA www.isend.es KHU Sondermaschinen GmbH 10 C52-04 KHU Sondermaschinen has entered into cooperation with optical fibre specialist Medek & Schörner that has resulted in the development of high-speed manufacturing systems. The company will present its latest development, the new ULTS-HS ultra low-tension high-speed crossbinder. Its technical highlights include a speed of 5,000 rpm; tension regulated from 40 to 50cN; and reserve cops. It is suitable for yarn and flat products.

Krenn’s battery-powered hydraulic straightener

Krenn GmbH & Co KG is a family-owned and managed business located in Bavaria, Germany. It has been operating in the wire processing industry for 70 years, and specialises in engineering, manufacturing and sales of manual, pneumatic and (electro-) hydraulic steel cutters and material testing presses for upset testing of wire samples. Its portfolio also includes straightening and bending machines, as well as customer-specific tailored solutions. Krenn GmbH & Co KG www.krenn.de Kurre Spezialmaschinenbau 10 B22 Kurre Systems has launched a new automated winding system for ultra fine wires from 0.05mm diameter. The machine consists of a payoff unit and a take-up unit. The automatic machine simultaneously winds up to 12 ultra-fine wires onto a braider spool at a maximum winding speed of 600m/min. The spools are wound for later use in a braidingmachine. The automatic take-up is available as a single or double winder with an empty and a full spool magazine for up to 36 spools. A special feature of the machine is the handling of the empty bobbins, which are automatically measured in tenths of a millimetre, and optimally

Also on display will be KHU’s best seller, the SZ40 SZ strandingmachine. It features 2,500 rpm speed; 3,000 rpm over-speed before reversal; and a reversal time of 20 milliseconds. The stand-alone unit for easy integration into extrusion lines can handle cable constructions up to 7 x 16mm 2 . KHU Sondermaschinen www.khu.at Krenn GmbH & Co KG 10 G66 Krenn is a specialist in cutting and straightening wire and bars. The com pany’s electro-hydraulic straightener with rechargeable lithium-ion battery has been established for more than ten years.

The quick-shifting system enables the motor to be pushed to the side, allowing flexible replacement of the feed bush, and enabling a smooth test of different groove geometries. Pressure and temperature measurements of individual or all barrel zones take place simultaneously. The laboratory extruder is also equipped with an analysis tool for optimum evaluation of process parameters and energy consumption. For example, when testing new polymers, the laboratory extruder provides more meaningful process values than a production extruder, enabling easier verification of
