uses. The number of strips is not limited to two. Fuhr is encouraging strip makers and end users to contact the company to discuss the feasibility of combined rolling and slitting for their products.
detection of defects such as cracks, seams, nicks and scratches. The Gi-100 can inspect up to 1,200 parts per minute. The Gi-Halo utilises a hang-by-head track and four proprietary vision cameras to detect dimensional and surface defects at inspection rates of up to 400ppm. The multi-view vision system provides more than 360° part coverage. By extracting eight images through sequenced front and back lighting, the results are complete 360° dimensional inspection plus visual defect detection. Those who are interested in seeing the VisionLab but are unable to attend wire 2022 can contact the company to schedule a free web demonstration. General Inspection, LLC https://geninsp.com GEO-Reinigungstechnik GmbH 11 A32 Achieving a clean finished wire is a complex process. Compared to a smooth “ideal” surface, the surface of deformed material is often full of cracks, overlaps and other surface defects, which are filled with a mixture of residual drawing lubricating material and metal particles. Cleaning usually seeks to reduce or remove this contamination. Individual cleaning methods have respective strengths in order to achieve the desired result. For more than two decades, GEO Reinigungstechnik has dealt with the cleaning of continuous profiles of wires, ribbons, strands and cables, and it offers a range of aqueous and mechanical wire cleaning systems for single- and multi wire applications. With mechanical cleaning, contamination is removed from the visible surface by mechanical friction with brushes, textiles ›››
vertical edge rollers is used. The strip’s edge form is defined by the edge rolls’ groove design, and the edges are smooth and free of burrs. The strips are layer wound on reels, or coreless layer wound coils can be produced. Amajor advantage is that the length of strips rolled fromwire is only limited by the take-up’s capacity.

13 B31 General Inspection will bring the Vision Lab 75 to wire 2022. As the smaller of the two VisionLab models, it can measure parts up to 75mm in length, compared to the 150mm length capability of the VisionLab 150. VisionLab is a 3D measuring machine with precision optics for complete part layouts. The system is suitable for first part inspection, PPAPs, SPS sampling and final audits.
Two strip coilers
With the aim of rolling long production lengths, but with defined, burr-free edges, Fuhr developed a concept that combines the advantages of both rolling and slitting processes, where wire is first rolled to strip and then slit into multiple strips. The most challenging aspect was the design of the shearing rolls and the selection of their material, because the lifetime of the shears needed to be much higher than in conventional slitting lines. The first combined rolling and slitting line, installed by Fuhr at the end of 2021, produces two 3 / 8 "-wide aluminium strips with thicknesses from 0.015" to 0.03", which are used for cable armouring. 8 " diameter hot rolled aluminium wire rod of the 5000 series. Compared to a single-strip rolling mill, the duo strip mill doubles the production capacity while labour costs remain constant. The machine’s space requirements are only 30 per cent higher, and the energy costs per ton of produced strip are reduced. The first installation was a proof of con cept that will now be deployed to appli cations for different materials and end The line is fed with 3 /
Gi-100 DT vision-based inspection system
General Inspection also offers high speed inspection solutions for fasteners and bolts, including the Gi-100 and the Gi-Halo. The Gi-100 is equipped with a glass dial table and advanced sensors to provide complete part measurements including inner and outer diameter, profile diameters and lengths, and visual
