screenshots can be selected directly from the monitor. Each spool receives a spool protocol. The logs are saved and can also be printed if necessary. The spool data is backed up directly during production in a power-failure-proof manner. Remote maintenance of all used components is possible, to improve line availability by minimising downtime in the event of a fault and simplifying maintenance work. Safe system operation is ensured by means of backup and securing functions such as overpressure shutdown, start-up inhibits at insufficient temperature, stop at excess temperature, motor current limit, emergency stop, tolerance and alarm monitoring, monitoring the sensor signals and system stop at wire break. In addition to the standard functions with convenient operation and recipe data management, this ensures smooth operation of the entire extrusion line. Another production benefit of Kurre systems is the new FFT software tool, which enables the simultaneous moni- toring of two product parameters, such as strand and cable diameter, during production in terms of disturbance frequencies on the product. Product and line data are graphically displayed and related to each other, making errors immediately detectable. For example, the zoom-in function can be used to select a single frequency band that the product performance was specified for. In addition, a threshold value for the critical heights of FFT peaks can be defined so that a warning will be generated if this value is exceeded. There is also an option to compare a current FFT spectrum with a stored reference “good production” spectrum. With this comparison the operator can monitor the performance and reliability of a production line over days, months and years. Kurre Spezialmaschinenbau GmbH www.kurre-systems.de
The Purity Scanner Advanced is an on-line inspection and sorting system based on X-ray and optical technologies. Contamination inside the pellets as well as on their surface is detected and automatically sorted out. For off-line inspection and analysis, the Purity Concept X, also based on X-ray technology, detects and analyses contamination both on the surface and inside coloured pellets. By using inspection, sorting and analysis systems, contamination can be excluded, avoiding breakdowns and saving material costs/ reducing waste. Sikora is headquartered in Germany but is globally active, with 14 offices worldwide, including in China. In cooperation with more than 30 local representatives around the world, Sikora serves customer demands for quality control and productivity, with international service locations ensuring customer support on-site. Sikora AG www.sikora.net Sirio Wire is an Italian company specialising in the chemical and electrochemical treatment of wire, including HCl fumeless pickling and H 2 SO 4 electrolytic pickling, ultrasonic and electrolytic cleaning, electro-plating lines, bronzing lines for beadwire and coating. Demand for cleaning processes in the wire industry is continuously increasing, as are quality requirements. Ultrasonic cleaning allows the removal of products present on the surface of the wire, such as calcium and sodium stearate lubricant from the dry drawing machine, lubricant oil from the wet drawing machine, phosphate coating and others. Ultrasonic cleaning uses high frequency sound waves to provide a mechanical ‘scrubbing’ of the wire surface. The mechanical action derives from the cavitation process, where micro-size bubbles form, grow and implode due to alternating positive and negative pressure waves. When the implosion event occurs near a hard surface, the bubble becomes a jet, which travels at a speed of approximately 400km/h towards the hard surface. Because of the inherent small size of the jet, ultrasonic cleaning has the ability to reach into small crevices, removing trapped soils effectively. TBC SirioWire Srl

At WireShow in Shanghai, Sikora will present advanced laser and X-ray technologies that precisely and reliably measure product parameters such as outer diameter, ovality, wall thickness and concentricity of cables. The company’s product portfolio also comprises spark testers for the detection of insulation faults, lump detectors for the detection of faults on the product surface, capacity measuring systems, and devices for conductor preheating and temperature measurement and control.
▲ The X-Ray 6000 Pro is used for measuring wall thickness, concentricity, diameter and ovality of up to three different material layers in insulating and sheathing lines Sikora technologies are, for example, installed in extrusion lines for quality control of automotive and data cables as well as building wires. In insulating and sheathing, the systems are used for measuring and controlling high voltage cables in CV lines. The company will also exhibit its on-line and off-line inspection, sorting and analysis systems for plastic pellets, such as for the insulation of medium, high and extra-high voltage cables.
