Huawei’s Japan solar deal

Cable supply secured

SubCom and H2 Cable have signed the contract for the supply and installation of the H2 submarine cable system, the first to connect Australia and Hong Kong with direct access to China. The cable design allows for a number of branching units to other locations including Taiwan, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Guam, Queensland, Hawaii and Los Angeles. The route is set to provide the best latency from Australia across the Pacific Ocean, with the Sydney to Hong Kong branch carrying 15Tbps per fibre pair and the Sydney to Los Angeles branch carrying over 12.9Tbps per fibre pair. The cable has a single end power feeding capability of over 13,000km. The branch between Sydney and Los Angeles will follow a route to the north of New Caledonia that has not been used by any other cable. “H2 will bring the necessary boost in connectivity to Australia, which has one of the fastest growing international traffic streams in the world,” commented Georges Krebs, CEO of H2. Remi Galasso, chairman of H2, added: “Growing capacity requirements and new traffic patterns emerging within the Asia-Pacific region require the deployment of innovative and versatile submarine infrastructures. The H2 cable, with its north and east segments, has been designed to deliver direct connectivity through new subsea paths and provide optimal diversity. We are excited to be at the forefront of this development.” SubCom – USA Website : www.subcom.com

Bangkok, Thailand-based renewables company Thai Solar Energy PCL has signed a cooperation agreement with China’s Huawei for the 150MW Onikoube solar project in Japan. The signing of the deal took place in Bangkok in March, and marks the start of a cooperation between the two companies on utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) plants in the Asia-Pacific region. The two parties previously worked together on a pilot project in July 2014. Huawei has agreed to supply its 1,500 V Smart PV solution with Smart I-V curve diagnosis for the project in Onikoube, Miyagi prefecture. Huawei uses an artificial intelligence (AI) algorithm to improve operation and maintenance efficiency and reduce the operating cost of the plant. Huawei – China Website : www.huawei.com
