Chinese steel producers Weifang Special Steel Iron and Steel Co Ltd and Hunan Valin Xiangtan Iron and Steel Co Ltd, have each placed an order with Friedrich Kocks GmbH & Co KG for a model 5.0 reducing and sizing block (RSB®). This is the second order placed by Weifang with Friedrich Kocks within four months. Weifang, based in Shandong province, produces carbon steel wire rod, welding wire and special bar quality steel for the automotive industry. The Kocks RSB 5.0 produces various SBQ grades, such as bearing and spring steel, with diameters between 18mm and 60mm at speeds up to 18m per second. Commissioning of the new block is scheduled for mid-2019. The new sizing block will be the second RSB purchased by Xiangtan; the company has run a previous model, 370/5, since 2005. The RSB 5.0 is designed for thermomechanical rolling and will finish straight bar sizes between 16mm and 100mm diameters onto the cooling bed. Commissioning is scheduled for early 2020. Technology fair widens its appeal

For the first time in the event’s seven-year history, companies from the USA and Canada were part of the China (Shanghai) International Technology Fair (CSITF). Around 100 foreign companies and research institutions, from countries that included Hungary, Germany and the Republic of Korea, attended the fair in Shanghai. The US and Canadian companies displayed their technologies in the fields of artificial intelligence, smart medical treatment, big data, financial technology and human-computer interaction. The German state of Saarland and the English city of Liverpool were invited to exhibit their latest technological achievements as guests of honour. As China’s only national-level technology fair the CSITF has become a platform for showcasing advanced technologies, and for promoting exchange and cooperation among world technology companies.
