Steve Mepsted, managing director, said: “It was excellent in terms of both visitor quantity and quality, with plenty of decision-makers in evidence, and we made a number of valuable new contacts. “We sold the P101 pneumatic portable cold welding machine exhibited on the stand to a company in Germany, and left with many solid leads for other products, especially the best-selling EP500. Our energy-e cient P1500 machine for welding rod up to 30mm also generated much interest, as did the recently upgraded ST40 cold welder for strip and tape, which can now bond copper material as thin as 0.2mm.” Praise for the exhibition also came from Ajex & Turner , which displayed the VNT dies, a highlight on the stand for visitors. Being for complex applications, the sector/trapezoidal dies were also very much appreciated. “Having all the potential customers under one roof is an extraordinarily pleasant experience,” the company said in a statement. “Many new customers also visited our booth and witnessed our upgraded three-head wire polishing and regrinding machine WPM-3, which grinds and polishes angles and bearings of three dies at one time and in one operation, which saves time, energy and is also very cost e ective.” Though Ajex continuously develops di erent technologies in the eld of wire dies, tooling and machines, the VNT and sector/trapezoidal dies are the best example. “We utilised the show to the maximum and did our best to satisfy the visitors/potential customers with the help of product demonstration by technical discussion, live demos and showing the product working video.”

Demand for Alloy Wire International ’s services hit an all-time high, with more than 150 individual leads taken during the ve days. AWI sta from di erent countries were inundated with existing and potential customers keen to explore how the company can deliver material in just three weeks as their own clients are looking to increase volumes and reduce lead times. A number of enquiries were for the ‘Emergency Manufacturing Service’ it o ers, with orders manufactured and completed within four days – a clear industry sign that things are buoyant at the moment. Angus Hogarth, sales director at AWI, said: “We’ve taken 30 per cent more enquiries than the previous shows and these have come from all corners of the globe and from companies involved in nuclear, marine, aerospace and oil and gas. “A lot of visitors to the stand were expressing concern over the availability of raw material on the world market so were delighted to learn that we have invested in over 200 tonnes to guarantee quick manufacturing times for their customers.” He continued: “Applications for our round, at and shaped wire were numerous and varied, with a visitor from Belgium wanting to use some of our precision rolled at wire to weave into a fabric that will be installed underground and another keen to use nickel alloy wire for the European Space Rocket programme.” Alloy Wire International’s presence was a truly global a air with sta from its

international o ces attending, allowing customers to speak with the company in their own language. On the rare occasion they couldn’t do this, visitors were able to use the 55" interactive TV to access AWI’s product and technical information, which is now translated into 15 di erent languages. The company’s ability to answer technical and metallurgical questions was also in demand and some delegates asked about the availability of technical presentations – something the company is looking to adopt.
