New railway approved data cable Belden has added a railway approved high performance Ethernet gigabit data cable, for mission critical railway and mass transit applications, to its range of cables and connectors, rugged Ethernet switches, routers and firewalls. The new Belden data cable BE43800 is said to offer fast, reliable communications and enhanced system performance in railway, transportation and city transit systems. Belden ® BE43800 is a halogen-free Cat 5e Ethernet cable that meets the highest international railway standards. This highly specialized data cable reliably delivers real time information for operators and passengers, on-board as well as in terminals and control rooms. Spine cable gets certified C&M Corporation, manufacturer of bulk cable, coil cords, and cable assemblies for the renewable energy market, has achieved agency certification for its Helios Spine Cable™product for solar installations. ETL recently completed the qualification process to UL Standard 9703 and UL 817 making the Helios Spine Cable one of the first solar related assemblies of this type to carry these agency certifications. As part of the ETL certification, the product was evaluated for both physical and electrical performance parameters such as temperature cycling, water spray, wet insulation resistance, temperature humidity, leakage current, crush resistance, current overload, and corrosion resistance. Nearly invisible fiber in the home OFS, a designer, manufacturer and supplier of fiber optic network solutions, has launched its EZ-Bend ® InvisiLight™ optical solution, said to provide virtually invisible, faster fiber routing inside homes and MDUs. John George, director, OFS global technical marketing, commented: “For service providers, this solution improves both sides of the business case equation: its virtual invisibility helps increase customer acceptance and revenues, and the roll-on installation process, auto-slack storage, and plug and play connectors speed deployment to help reduce costs.” FTTH providers are now deploying compact Optical Network Terminals (ONTs) deep into subscriber’s homes to facilitate in-home networking. However, some customers cancel service orders once they learn the installation requires unsightly conventional optical cables. Routing fiber behind walls is an option, but this is a slow and expensive installation unless wall ducts are in place and accessible. The EZ-Bend InvisiLight optical solution is said to solve this challenge with a 1mm diameter optical micro-cord that blends seamlessly with the interior decor. The installer uses a simple process to roll and adhere the micro-cord into grooves between ceilings and walls, walls and moldings, corners between walls, or directly onto moldings. EZ-Bend fiber conforms to the contours and many corners in a residence with negligible signal loss. From the Draka side have come the blown cable families including JetNetXS and EaseNetXS, with the whole system portfolio underpinned by a suite of in-house fiber technologies led by BendBrightXS, the bend insensitive fiber developed specifically for last mile applications in compliance with G657.A2/ B2 requirements. NewQSFP cable solution Amphenol has expanded its portfolio of high-speed copper interconnect products with the release of a new class of QDR InfiniBand qualified QSFP cables. QSFP (QuadSFP)passivecoppercableassemblies represent the pinnacle of Amphenol’s high- speed interconnect design methodology, combining a superior die-cast “board- as-connector” platform with proprietary Spectra-Strip Skewclear shielded parallel pair wire. Specifically optimized for bandwidth- intense applications, the QSFP interface offers the scalability and flexibility required to support emerging 40-Gbps communications standards such as QDR InfiniBand and 40-Gigabit Ethernet. Amphenol’s precision engineered QDR InfiniBand qualified QSFP cable series is manufactured by Amphenol High Speed Interconnects (AHSI).

Prysmian unveils new xsNet portfolio Prysmian Group showcased its upgraded xsNet - access network - portfolio at the FTTH Council Europe conference, which took place in Munich on 15 th and 16 th February.
