Korea’s LS Cable & Systems has won the contract to build a fiber optic network in Nepal. The contract, with state-owned telecom service provider Nepal Telecom, is to build the network in the country’s eastern alpine region, including the foothills of Kangchenjunga in the Himalayas. Mozambique’s planned Temane-Maputo power line project will go ahead with foreign investment from Notícias; the Norwegian government; the World Bank; the African Development Bank; the Islamic Development Bank; the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries Fund; and the Southern African Development Bank. The 563km power line project is an initiative of the Mozambican government and the publicly owned electricity company EDM. The transmission line will stretch from Temane, in the southern Mozambican province of Inhambane, to the capital, Maputo.
