Smaller patch cords

PowerWise CAT 5e has been designed to support the upcoming 4PPoE standard (IEEE 802.3bt), which will permit up to 100W of power to be transmitted over the same copper pairs used for data transmission. The cable has an outer diameter of only 0.23" and is available for both riser and plenum applications. The plenum version of PowerWise CAT 5e uses 100 percent fluoropolymer insulation, demonstrated to retain all of its original physical and electrical properties even after long durations in PoE applications. Sjogren's new wire puller is designed for improved safety and productivity. It is compatible with a wide range of assemblies, and will pull wire in diameters from 1.5mm to 6.3mm. Holding the puller handle with one hand, the operator simply retracts the upper jaw to a locked position and inserts the wire with the other hand. The pivoting puller head allows for both in-line pull from the die box, and a tangential pull on the capstan to reduce the risk of wire breakage. The jaws have dual-surface design. Each jaw provides one working life as an upper jaw and a second working life as the lower jaw, so reducing operation costs. New puller is two-faced

Panduit Corp has added UTP and shielded category 6A performance patch cords to its 28-AWG range. With a diameter of only 0.185 for both UTP and shielded versions, the new category 6A patch cords occupy just 45 percent of the space of standard category 6A 24-AWG patch cords, bringing the advantages of higher cabling density and increased pathway capacity to users of 10GBASE-T networks. Due to their significantly smaller size, more than twice as many 28-AWG patch cords can fit within existingpathways as compared to typical 24-AWG cords, providing an immediate solution for congested pathways simply by using the smaller size cords. In addition, the new cords allow up to 27 percent more open space between cords, which provides increased visibility of port numbers andmore room for accessing plugs and routing cords. “The demand for small diameter cabling solutions continues to grow, showing that IT managers around the globe value the space-savings benefits these offerings bring,” said Dennis Renaud, vice president of Panduit enterprise business. “As more types of enterprise systems are networked, it is driving the need to fit more equipment into over-burdened telecommunication rooms and data centers. Panduit 28-AWG patch cords are a key piece of the solution that helps maximize this valuable real estate.”
