Three-axis lump and neck detectors - for enhanced circumference quality control - preheaters, spark testers and capacitance gauges complete Proton’s portfolio. Proton will display the SLR3060 bi-directional speed and length gauge; the LN3030 lump and neck detector; InteliSENS diameter gauge and NEXiS control system.

to provide a cost-effective, user-friendly packaging solution for a wide range of products never before packed in Reelex. Reelex ® is a patented method of winding any flexible filamentary material into a precision-wound figure-eight coil. This coil dispenses from the inside-out without twists, tangles, snags or overruns and may be placed into a wide range of containers from cardboard boxes to shrink film to environmentally-sustainable packaging. Roblon Roblon develops and manufactures high-tech industrial fibers such as glass and aramid strength members, binder yarns and ripcords (standard and water-blocking) used in fiber optic cables and is ISO 9001 and 14001 certified.

Roblon servers SE-18 or SE-24 apply yarns to a cable winding off the material, making them suitable for yarn types such as the Roblon composite glass. Tension is individually controlled during production by means of hysteresis brakes. Roblon servers can be easily integrated in both existing and new production lines.

Saco Polymers is a manufacturer of moisture-crosslinkable polyethylene compounds for the wire and cable industry, with a broad range of formulations of flame retardant and low smoke zero-halogen (LSOH) compounds to meet the highest international standards. Saco Polymers recently announced its acquisition of AEI Compounds Ltd, increasing product line capabilities and extending the company’s geographic reach. Headquartered in Kent, UK, AEI is a long-standing developer and manufacturer of specialized thermoplastic and crosslinkable polymer compounds for insulation and jacketing applications.

Reelex Packaging Solutions

Alongside examples of the Reelex “I” and Reelex II ® coils in corrugated box packaging,

Rosendahl Increasing demand for foamed data cores, for RG-type coaxial cables up to ½” using cheaper standard FEPs and for fluor-polymer insulated wires for data-, coaxial-, micro-co- axial and aerospace applications, drives the demand for improved processing equipment, process and material developments. For this wide area of applications Rosendahl has developed a series of extruders to cover output ranges from 0.02kg/h up to 50kg/h and cover foam rates for FEP from 20% up to 68% depending on product design and wall thickness. By developing four new crosshead designs a wide range of products is covered. Newly designed payoffs and take-ups allow wire tensions down to 3grams for processing AWG54 special alloy wires.

Roblon produces a range of composite glass strength members and offers specialized hotmelt formulations. One example is an extra-adhesive version that transmits the force of the strength members to the jacketing material, making it ideal for short-span aerial cables. Roblon has also developed a formulation particularly suitable for direct buried cables or for cables placed in extreme environments such as sewer systems.

The Macromeric ® division of Saco Polymers produces thermoplastic compounds and additive concentrates. These polymeric materials cover a wide spectrum of performance, targeted for flame retardant, electrically / thermally conductive and static-dissipative end-use applications. Other major product lines include thermoplastic polyurethanes and plasticized/impact-modified polyamides.

a new type of Reelex package will debut at IWCS. This next-generation Reelex package is said to offer a slimmer profile, greater payout performance, a more environmentally-friend- ly waste profile and lower material costs than current Reelex and other packaging options. The second packaging system on display is a new concept aimed at shorter (500 feet and under) lengths of cable, and is designed
