the design, supply and installation of 288km of 132kV cable and associated jointing accessories. The onshore cabling will begin later this year, and is scheduledtobecommissioned in 2016. Graham Carr, MD of Carillion Network Services, said: “We are delighted to have been selected for this complex contract to deliver the onshore cabling project for the Dudgeon Offshore Windfarm. This project builds on the excellent relationship that Carillion has developed with Statoil and Statkraft.”
A joint venture between Statoil, Statkraft and Masdar, Dudgeon Offshore Windfarm Ltd, will invest approximately £1.5 billion in an offshore wind farm generating enough energy to power 410,000 homes every year. Aspartof theproject,Carillionwill undertake all civil engineering and cable installation activities, including crossing a number of watercourses and strategic roads using trenchless techniques. The project is the longest onshore HV connection delivered in the UK. A new cable system will connect the subsea cable, taking the power from the offshore wind turbines, to a new National Grid substation. The contract will involve
