Airlines expand wire harness production
Subsea joint venture
Subsea cable installation companies Global Marine Systems and PT Ketrosden Triasmitra are to form a joint venture to provide subsea cable engineering and installation services to the telecommunications and oil and gas industries in the Indonesian market. The partnership between the two companies will see the installation of over 600km of cable this year as they collaborate on the Luwuk-Tutuyan and Jambi-Batam submarine cable projects. They will install a further projected 2,000km during 2014. The joint venture will own and operate cabotage compliant vessels and provide feasibility studies, marine surveys, shallow and deep water installations and burial solutions. Triasmitra founder and chief executive officer Ketut Romadhi said: “Global Marine, with its unparalleled history in the provision of services to the submarine cable industry, is the ideal partner to expand our expertise and quality of service for our customers in Indonesia.”
Boeing and Ethiopian Airlines have announced an agreement to double wire harness production at Ethiopian Airlines’ wire harness facility in Addis Ababa. The agreement was signed at the Corporate Council on Africa’s 9 th biennial US-Africa business summit in Chicago, designed to develop closer business relationships between African and US industries. The Ethiopian Airlines facility currently supplies seat-to-seat wire harnesses for all Boeing commercial airplane programs. Following the announcement, Boeing and Ethiopian Airlines will place additional work at the facility to manufacture more varied and complex wire harnesses and so expand its value as an aerospace supplier. Also in 2012, Ethiopian Airlines’ facility was recognized by Boeing for its outstanding performance and awarded a gold rating in Boeing’s performance excellence awards – the highest rating a Boeing supplier can achieve.
