IWMA monthly news IWMA Educational Trust John C Hogg Travel Awardees coming to wire 2012 from far and wide. For many years the IWMA, through its charity, the IWMA Educational Trust Fund, has helped to promote and support trainees and students pursuing or seeking to pursue a career in the wire and cable industry. This support can take two forms: two year scholarships worth up to US$24,000 or expenses paid travel awards to attend the world’s largest and most important wire and cable trade fair, wire Düsseldorf. The 2012 travel awards have been issued to 11 persons from around the globe, Seven men and four ladies. Apart from some UK-based awardees others hail from China, Taiwan, Malaysia and India. The awardees receive return flights from their home bases, accommodation in a good quality hotel in the center of Düsseldorf, a free entrance pass and catalogue for the exhibition (courtesy of Messe Düsseldorf) and a VIP ticket to the IWMA’s gala dinner during the exhibition week. All travel awards for 2012 have now been allocated and the next ones will be available for wire Düsseldorf 2014. Just a few table top exhibits remaining for the IWMA’s CabWire 2011 World Conference in Düsseldorf in November There has been strong interest in the IWMA’s biennial conference CabWire in Düsseldorf 7 th -8 th November 2011. Already the number of registered delegates exceeds 130, attracted by the technical and market overview papers in separate ferrous and non-ferrous sessions. Adding to the attraction of the programme are optional factory tours, a table top exhibition and excellent networking opportunities including a beer reception on 7 th November. There are still a few table top exhibits left at time of writing and interested parties are advised to book an exhibit without delay.
