Scotland hits the million milestone

Over one million homes and businesses in Scotland have access to superfast broadband. As part of the £2.5 billion UK rollout, OpenReach engineers have laid down around 1,850km of fiber optic cables, and installed 3,500 new cabinets. BT Scotland director Brendan Dick, visiting Hawick-basedcompany Emtelle, producers of 29millionmeters of cable duct for BT, said: “Today marks a high point in Scotland’s development as one of Europe’s leading nations for high speed communications.
